Anyone know what the gasket between thermostat housing and water pump is called ? I attached a photo of the area. I can’t seem to find this gasket just did the timing belt and kit came with the paper gasket for this area and water pump. So have to replace with metal gasket

That joint was not assembled originally with a gasket, so a gasket won't be available from Toyota. Toyota used their OEM FIPG (formed-in-place gasket) sealant at that joint. A paper gasket was included in the kit for those that feel they need a gasket there.

Dont use the paper gasket there, just use the FIPG. And definitely use the metal gasket on the water pump, like you said. Paper will fail.

Yeah. I was already aware this deep in the thread, but post #5 about the next timing belt kit prompted my posted link which is pretty thorough. Even comes with Drive/Cam Seals. Its great kit from the looks.

I wonder now long the FIPG stays good in the tube? I still have nearly a full tube from the Valve Cover Gasket Job 2 years ago.

That kit is pretty nice; I had to pickup several items outside my kit that are included with this setup.
