    Looking for bumpers, winch, etc
    Hello everyone!

If you've ever rolled a Duramax on a freeway at 65mph and woke up 21 months later to learn that your concussion made you buy a BMW X5 that depreciates faster than you can pay on it, and then in your newly regained sanity you put that money incinerator into your past... welcome to my life!!! ;)

Thursday I bought my Tundra at Carlsbad Toyota (Carlsbad CA) and I have nothing but love for them.

I went there originally just stopping by to see the Tacoma, but I'm a Big Tall guy and that was not a good fit... at all!!! and then we went and drove a Tundra. Okay, obviously a better fit, but I've owned a Titan previously and I know what mileage is for Titans/Tundras, and my main concern was qualifying to buy because I was so far underwater on the BMW that I was most seriously looking at Dodge. Dodge goes way high on MSRP and then starts slinging a lot of discounts and rebates, and it seems like Toyota is the opposite, they have MSRP and that's the deal. So RAM doing that with the MSRP makes it easier to get financing to get out of an underwater loan.

Long story short, Toyota put me into a Tundra including 18k of negative equity on the BMW for 0% interest, and I do NOT have the worlds best credit rating... it's not the worst, but it's not the best either lol.

I did the math on the deals and if I'd gone with Dodge I'd pay $71.5k over 7 years 5.99% vs. 75k on 5 years... 0% was the deal, it was the ONLY deal, and they had my truck with my options with my color and... BOOM!!!

Flash forward from Thursday to today, I was at the dealer so they could wash the truck and the finance guy said "Oh hey! by the way your payoff on the X5 was actually lower, you're getting a check for $1600'ish" uhm.... Okay!!!! :D

So that will be my 2nd post on the forums... I want a serious NO BS bumper on the truck, and I found the one I want *EXCEPT* it doesn't look like they do that one with a winch mount :( so I'm still shopping! and I'll find my bumper! And I get money back from all the warranties I bought on the X5 so there's a WARN winch in the immediate near future as well!

There was 1 guy before me tried to buy the truck, his credit failed to approve (we've probably all been there), there was a guy that was looking at it at the same time (that I didn't know about, meaning no pressure was put on me) and he waited a day too long, when the .9% financing offer expired and Mark texted me hey have great news, and told me the new offer was 0% uhhhh BOOM!

    That's what got me here!

Call me Hatch! the introduction to making an account says don't use your real name but that's not going to out me... I'm not in witness relocation or anything lol!

Great success story! You’ll turn that negative equity upside down in no time versus just getting further underwater with a Dodge. :stirthepot::stirthepot: Welcome!!

$71 - $75k on a truck because you are underwater in a BMW. Buy used - get your money straight - and reset.

Well Guy, I'd say welcome but, I've just joined this forum and it's been so long that I've foregotten how to post so, I'm jumping in on your post to say hi to everyone. I do have a completely different sort of story. I live in Austin, Tx. I no longer have any worriers about buying things so, I bought my Tundra back in May and have fallen in love with it. I've been very busy turning it into a camping vehicle but, I'll give those details in another thread where I can also post picures when I can figure that out.

yeah... that would be difficult to do, first it would require having the money to pay off the negative equity which I don't have, and then I'd need to have the money to buy the very used truck that I have no idea of it's history or service... not sure that's really feasible, thanks tho!

Good grief, I know it... now! the things I've learned buying vehicles. Wow. As far as I'm concerned from now on unless I win the lotto anything that considers itself a "luxury" brand is radioactive! I don't want to be anywhere near it.

There's a lot of things that were going on, but ultimately the responsibility was mine. From the roll over accident on the Duramax the docs were telling me you're screwed for 2 years minimum, maybe 4 or more! on neck and back pain. State Farm dragged their feet moving the claim through the process and I thought they were going to fix the truck, and then they said no, we're not going to fix it we're going to total it... so now the rental car is going to start coming out of pocket (not good)... and with a very limited time frame for shopping without starting to go out of pocket on fees and everything else, I had to find something that wouldn't be too low like a sedan to climb down into (= painful) or another truck right away which I have to climb up into (= painful) so I found this car at the BMW Stealership and figured on a lease return they already took the hit... yeah, not so much. On top of all that we were swamped at work with 2 acquisitions and I was doing 14 hour days. It was a mess

Absolutely agree, if you're going to get a BMW, lease, do NOT buy!
