    I'm sure most people know this, but if not, here's the reply I got from Toyota when trying to find the in-service date for my truck so I knew when my warranty started.

    =====================

    Thank you for contacting Toyota Motor Sales, U.S.A., Inc.

    We appreciate you taking time to e-mail us with your inquiry.

    The Comprehensive Warranty for your vehicle is in effect for 36 months or 36,000 miles from the vehicle's in-service date, whichever occurs first. Items subject to normal wear and tear, noise, vibration, or deterioration are not warranted.

    The Powertrain Warranty on your vehicle is in effect for 5 years or 60,000 miles from the vehicle's in-service date, whichever occurs first.

    Any repair or replacement to the engine, transmission/transaxle, front wheel drive, rear wheel drive, or restraint system, which becomes necessary due to a defect in materials or workmanship, is warrantable. Items subject to normal wear and tear, noise, vibration, or deterioration are not warranted.

    The Factory warranties provided by Toyota cover repairs and manufacturer caused conditions or defects in materials or workmanship of any part supplied by Toyota that occur and reported while the vehicle is still within the warranty parameters. This warranty does not cover damage or failures resulting directly or indirectly from any of the following:
    1. Fire, accidents or theft
    2. Abuse or negligence
    3. Misuse - for example, racing or overloading
    4. Improper repairs
    5. Alteration or tampering, including installation of non-Genuine Toyota Accessories
    6. Lack of or improper maintenance, including use of fluids other than those specified in the Owner’s Manual
    7. Installation of non-Genuine Toyota Parts
    8. Airborne chemicals, tree sap, road debris (including stone chips), rail dust, salt, hail, floods, wind storms, lightning and other environmental conditions
    9. Water contamination
    Toyota Financial Services offers extended warranties that can be purchased at authorized Toyota dealers. To discuss whether or not an extended warranty can be purchased for your vehicle, please speak with an Extra Care representative by calling 1-800-228-8559. Representatives are available Monday through Friday from 8:00 AM to 6:00 PM, and on Saturday from 9:00 AM to 1:00 PM, Central Time.

    I got lucky once on my old F150. I reported a noise a few thousand miles before my warranty was up, after the warranty expired a few thousand miles later the notorious six cylinder rod ends took a shit. They tried to tell me to go screw myself, luckily there was a paper trail that proved I came in before and they told me it was nothing. They replaced the engine block. And I made them pay for a rental car for over two months. The blocks were on back order or something. They tried to only let me have the rental for a week LOL. I promptly sold that truck after they fixed it.
