I’m currently running fox ifp 2.5 non resi up front 0-2” and in the rear running fox 2.0 non resi, I’m looking to upgrade the rear because one of my rear shocks started to leak oil. I drive through gravel, dirt roads probably like every weekend as I have property up in the mountains. Looking at 5160s or fox 2.5 with resis. Big price difference between the both, can someone chime in with opinions.

The 2.5 rears are rebuildable. Granted the rebuild will cost almost the price of a new set of bilsteins.
I have non res 2.5 rear icons and I’m gonna convert them to res shocks on this next rebuild. Res shocks run a lower pressure so maybe they will ride better at low speeds

I had both 5160 and Fox 2.5 with DSC resis.

Hands down Fox but specifically the DSC (clickers). I like the ability to adjust the low speed and high speed compression to accommodate the added weight of gear when loaded and then going back to softer setting when unloaded.

If the wife can notice the difference between the two setups and makes a comment about how much smoother the truck drove on shitty back roads, I knew it was worth it and I wasn’t in my head.

They make a bigger difference off road than on pavement.

I leaning towards fox 2.5 dsc did you get them through accutune or just got the stock valving? I guess I’ll just have resi in the rear and non resi in front lol

I bought them on eBay new with stock valving since at the time everyone, including accutune, was back ordered 6+ months with no eta.

When I rebuild them, I may consider going softer with the valving, but stock works great too. For what I use them for, I don’t think I’ll ever max out the settings. So going softer would be nicer for that Caddy ride empty and ability to max out the settings for what I need them for when loaded.

I have matching Fox 2.5 pair with DSC in the front and I don’t adjust those as much as the rears since the weight you carry mainly fluctuates in the back, so I wouldn’t worry about the miss match.

I have the Fox 2.0 in the rear. I think they're perfect for no payload but seem a bit overwhelmed when I'm towing with some stuff in the bed. I'd agree something with adjustable valving would be great to dial it in. I installed Rancho RS9000X with in-cab adjustments on my old Ram and it was great to be able to adjust the shocks to smooth or firm up the ride depending on terrain or load.

I had one Rancho shock start leaking after about 8 years and Rancho sent me a new pair with just proof of purchase. Too bad Fox doesn't stand behind their product like that.

How long do the rear stick shocks go until needing replacement?

Black or trd? Black ones aren’t worth running at all

I have the Toytec Boss with resis on mine. I think they have been phased out by their Boss 2.0 non resis.
