Ever since getting a drain and flush by the dealer on my 2019, I’ve been wanting to check the level to see if they did it correctly. I have no external cooler, so is the only difficult part going to be the process to bring it to temp? Can I do it with a regular OBD scan tool? How quickly do I need to jump down and look at the fluid once at temp? It seems so finicky, I almost wish I’d never had it done.

Stick your scan tool on and get it up to 110deg. Check it on level ground. You want a steady trickle not a dribble. Kinda going from full stream to half stream. I change my atf fluid every year or two with full drain and fills.

    None....
You can slowly leave the drivers seat when trans hits temp then crawl under and loosen the check plug, then put it back in with new crush washer.

You might as well just get all the stuff for a drain and fill and just do it over. Whst if you get it up to temp and nothing comes out, now you got to go buy more WS fluid and an o ring for the fill plug, plus new crush washer for check plug

I did drain and fill on GF Blazer and it was over a quart low. Dealership had to replace cv axles seal and obviously they did not care to check the trans fluid.

Be sure you scan tool reads transmission temp. I use phone app, OBD Fusion, with expanded Toyota readings is extra $, with a generic ELM327 OBD connected to the port under the dash., that way I get live readings... There are many videos explaining the process , watch them a few times, get everything ready, you'll be good..

Doing with the a Bluetooth OBD reader is the easiest solution since there is no jumping to do and you can lay under the truck with your phone. The OBDlink MX+ is by far the easiest one, all you do is buy it download the app and install the Toyota add on, you don't need to enter any PIDs manually like other ones, but that ease come with a cost since it's more expensive than the other options. Also I don't think I'd do a check process unless you also by yourself some ATF WS to add since the process no matter what requires you lose some ATF, I'd put a half a quart in and do it. You'll know real quick if it was filled correctly since that half a quart will come right back out and if it wasn't you'll have some more ATF to add.
