When I start my 2008 Tundra 2WD 5.7, the VSC light stays on ( blinking ) , the "traction control" symbol comes on, and the "check engine" light comes on. After a short distance and braking for the first or second time, the transmission will not advance into top gear. After shutting the engine off, this stops. The lights still stay on. After 4 starts, the lights go away. Upon the 5th or 6th start, the process starts over. Is this the knock sensor?

Check/clean/rehab/renew all your batt connections, etc. And read/run the codes just for grins...

Revisit that, make sure all connections are clean/tight...check other cables for corrosion.
