Look to sell my car once my 2021 trd pro gets delivered in a week or so. I was going to trade in but my online quote from vroom was 2K higher.

Anyone have a preference over Vroom or Carvana or something else?

Also anything tax related I should be aware of when debating to sell vs trade in?

If u trade in your car on the truck you only pay tax on the difference in price between the two.

If the car is paid off, compare Carvanas quote to Vroom and go with the highest offer. I sold my 2013 to Carvana for 17, 740 and the dealers offer was $12K.

Now that Vroom has set a price floor recommend setting up a private sale or shopping dealerships to see if they want to buy your car; sometimes their are "agents" in you area that will handle the postings and showing for commission. It still beats Vroom in most cases even with someone taking a cut.

I've used both but Vroom tends to be slightly higher. If your vehicle's condition is good they'll honor their offer as is. The only negative I've heard that they've had delays with payment and some other admin issues recently. Once you accept the offer you mail the title and key (keep one to give to the pick up driver), they arrange pick up and issue payment when the driver submits his bill of laden to them.

Tax will be based on your state. Typically the buyer pays the tax but you have to report the sale as income (capital gains).

With Carvana everything to include getting your check and title transfer is done on the spot.

I sold one car and bought one car from Carvana in separate transactions months apart, and was 100% satisfied both times. In my case they offered $1000 more than Vroom.

    Thats good to know.

They're running their own fleet of trucks now, at one point it was outsourced

I sold my dads Dodge Challenger to givemethevin.com and they paid a lot more money than carvana, carmax and vroom.

    See my thread on Vroom

they are a bit disorganized at best - Carvana (and CarMax) pay on the spot - vroom dies not - if your ok with waiting 3 weeks - might be worth 2 grand.

Go with the highest price. Carvana is an easier transaction in my experience. I sold 3 vehicles to Carvana this year and one to Vroom. Vroom takes longer and they aren’t as quick to pick it up. For the 3 vehicles I sold to Carvana - the whole experience was great.

givemethevin.com gave me a check when they picked up the car.
