Vibration is damn enoying?

    So I just took a trip from Tulare to Santa Cruz here in California. At speeds of 70 to 75 my truck has a vibration. If no one is sitting on the passenger seat it will vibrate a good amount. If I have a water bottle in cup holder it will vibrate a good amount. I cant figure out what it is. Just had the tires balanced yesterday and that did not help. So I was thinking two things either the offset on my tires being +12 and sticking out of the wheel well is causing a turbulanece with the aerodynamics or the carrier bearing getting off balance. But I really need to take care of this quick it's getting real old quick. Any ideas or are any of you guys that are running tires that stick out have similar issue?

    I always ask my customers “where do you feel the vibration?”
    Do you feel it in the steering wheel? Do you feel it on your butt? On the gas pedal?
    How many miles are on your truck? Have you checked the condition of the U joints or carrier bearing? What about the ball joints in the front end?
    Are your tires inflated properly? Are they new or old? Have you tried rotating the tires to see if the vibration moves? Are the tires in good shape? Are they more than 6 years old?

    Your offset is not going to make a difference.

    Tires have 6k miles on them tire pressure is set 38lbs .......wheels are about 1.5 yrs old. Vibration is felt in the seats ....miles 142k....lower control arms are about 8 months old

    So I have new lower control arms as well....I checked tire pressure they are 35lbs.

    Vibration is only there between 70 and 75 mph and also is much wo6if I am behind a big rig......any ideas?

    @Rica25 do you happen to have your old wheels and tires? Just to eliminate that, maybe throw those back on to see if anything changes. Did the vibration change at all when you put the driveline spacers in?

    Nope did not change......I have old wheels but not tires ......I wanted to test some ones tires and rims on my truck......only one I know is my uncle he has 2019 but he has not answered me yet

    See what rpm you are running at 70 to 75, and try that same RPM in a gear lower to see if it’s consistent with RPM or speed. I wouldn’t exactly know where to go from there but at least it could help with diagnostics for someone else around here. I would say if it’s RPM-based that would remove the driveshaft from equation.

    So it will vibrate in say... fifth gear at that RPM?

    I think these tires are gonna be out of round I got 3 new ones for same reason and these tires were brand new but I think it is gonna be a tire issue

    I had a similar experience when I had my Tacoma. Come to find out it was the mud terrains I was running that caused a high frequency vibration. The lower the tread got the worse it became. Got rid of the Dick Cepeks Mud Terrains and the vibrations went away.

    Did this only start since you got the new wheels and tires? Are they hubcentric? Maybe it’s possible they didn’t get them seated right and just over torqued them with an impact wrench. It seems our trucks are sensitive to the wheels being installed properly and torqued down progressively.

    Because it’s a a certain speed regardless of gear or RPM it sounds like the tires are the issue.

    I had a 1994 dodge ram 1500 rclb that did the same thing LOL, at 65-70 passenger seat would shake just a little, some folks said they felt a vibration others said they felt nothing, dealership never did figure it out, sorry I know this does not help.

    You’d be surprised how many Michelin tires I’ve seen that are out of round.

    Doesn’t seem like it should be that difficult for a tire company that’s been around that long, to have consistent ways of manufacturing a tire without them being out of round.

    What do they do differently for a road force balance? Do they make you pay extra?

    Look it up on YouTube, they apply like 1500 lbs of force to the tire and balance it that way. Pretty nif. Yes costs extra but worth it

    Well it really has nothing to do with they can’t balance the tire correctly. The tire is balanced as it spins free on the machine but once you put it on the car the dynamics change variables at speeds etc. tires are made up of layers of rubber belts and other things they put it in the mold under pressure so it impossible to get it Perfectly round, some brands do better then other brands. It boils down to a crap shoot. It helped me.
