Hey again everyone, I’ve got a 2012 Toyota Tundra and recently had an oil change and recall inspection done. Midas and the Toyota dealership both said my Valve Covers are leaking. My question is, why would the valve covers be leaking on a vehicle with only 89K miles, granted it’s a 2012, but c’mon. Have gotten a couple of estimates, and so far the dealership is the cheapest. With that being said how hard is it to replace the gaskets and is there a better brand than another. Also as a heads up wasn’t really planning on fixing the valve cover gaskets until the leak becomes worse-as of now it appears as little to no oil is lost on the dipstick. Thanks for all the information.

    Pretty things
Us Toyota owners have high expectations. 10 years old and almost 100k on the truck...

But yes, some people do run into this with the 5.7, and it is usually a leak between the "cam towers" and block. Cam towers are sandwiched between engine block and valve covers.

I believe there is no gasket, and it is sealed with RTV or similar.

The leaks tend to be minor and I hear many just let them seap.

You should find more info/threads by searching "cam tower leak"
