Happy new year all! I have a 2010 SR5 Tundra with the stock JBL system. I purchased a touch screen apple-cap-play stereo and ordered the wiring harness for it, but I keep reading that you cannot use the stock JBL amp if you use an upgraded head unit (HU). However, I also ordered the Scotche wiring harness that “supposedly” will allow the user to use an upgraded head unit with eh factory amp. BUT, I also read that it is recommended to upgrade the speakers to 4 ohm speakers…

So my question is: Will I be able to use this head unit (pictured) with the scotche wiring harness (pictured) and be able to continue to use the stock JBL system?

I will be upgrading the JBL system later but for now I just want to upgrade the HU since I am installing air suspension and other accessories first… Pics below are the items purchased for the upgrades.
I will be installing the HU (pictured), with the Scotche wiring (hopefully to retain use of stock JBL system), also installing the steering wheel harness to continue to use the steering wheel controls (pictured) and running a vide splitter so I can switch between cameras since I installed a backup camera (in the tailgate handle) and adding a front camera.

My 2010 JBL SR5 had similar harnesses when I bought it. I replaced them with a different Kenwood and Maestro RR.

    What you have should work.

so… I tried to do this myself but with the JBL system it just wasn’t going to work. That and I also ordered the wrong harness online… so rather than mess up my wiring, I went on yelp and found a local independent guy to install everything and also tint the windows. Normally I’m a DIY guy but sometimes you gotta leave things to the pros.
