I have a 2019 Tundra Sr with the base Etune radio. I would like to get the Entune Plus as I would like the HD radio feature. Would this be a simple swap out concerning updating firmware and plug and play as far as swapping out the units?. I have noticed several listing on Ebay that seem to be affordable. Checked with Infotainment and they have the Nav version but it is a more than I currently want to spend. any suggestions would be helpful.

Go aftermarket. Kenwood is a solid option. Get ahold of @james@tech12volts and he’ll get you going in the right direction.

You could find someone selling the head unit and speakers from their truck and be good to go. But as mentioned above, if you are going to throw any money at it and go through the hassle of removing everything, I’d just do it right and go aftermarket.
If you’re set on keeping the stock look, definitely hit up @tech12volts. He’ll hook you up with whatever you need. I purchased the JBL sub and box and that alone made a significant difference.

I have the upgraded Entune JBL system and it's a horrible head unit. XM and HD FM reception is utterly broken, there is basically no integration with smartphones.

I'm here right now to ask if anyone has done a Kenwood Excelon head unit swap with the controls adapters and if it works seamlessly.

The Entune unit is so flawed, I'm pretty shocked by it.

Yes, I would like to know that as well. Just looking at that Kenwood Excelon it looks very appealing. Crutchfield gave me I thought a decent price on all components necessary. Just don't want to loose any factory features

You are not losing any OEM look with aftermarket. I have HD radio and is not really worth the investment, they compress the sound so much is as good as FM and constantly cuts out. Most HD stations have an app that sounds much better than over the air signal.

When upgrading the HU especially if you have the JBL system does the system get louder or sound better?

Louder as the aftermarket radios have a higher output than stock, JBL might be as loud as aftermarket due to more channels. I added a pbr300x4 that fits behind my dash.

I just installed a Kenwood DDX6906S Headunit and it woke the stock Non-JBL speakers up.

If its just that lack of sound quality and volume that you dislike about the OEM headunit, then there are other options than replacing the head unit.

To get a new one that will be an upgrade can be as much as getting a budget DSP and a nice inexpensive amp.

Dayton audio's DSP is at $150. Ton of features with 8 channels of out put.

Pioneers new DSP can be found at about the same price, sometimes. Its also got a decent feature set and is rated at 50 watts by 4 channels.

There's even the mini DSP 2x4 HD at about 200. Its a real deal DSP.

There's also the audison bit ten. Its $350 if you shop around.

You could get any of those options and an amp while coming in under the price of a newer head unit and easily out perform it.

But if you are looking for specific features that are only found in a headunit, then that's a different story, and thats understandable.

I upgraded to a Kenwood unit, don’t think it was Excelon though. Part number DNX574S. I had it done at Best Buy, along with new speakers, amp, Hideaway sub, and maestro controller. Absolutely no issues. Have more features than my factory unit had for sure. Much better sound, navigation, interface, etc. The factory unit honestly didn’t have many features to begin with.

I've got a Kenwood in my truck as well. Pretty much any decent aftermarket head unit will be an upgrade.
