My 2002 Sequoia has been running down the battery with no apparent cause. Last evening when charging, I discovered a light coming from under the dash just to the right of the fuze box. The only way I could turn it off was to gently remove the small bulb. Anyone know the purpose of this light?

    Welcome from NY.

Could it be the footwell light when you open the door?

Thank you. It could be a foot well light. After having the car for 18 years, this is the first time I have noticed it. Just went out to the car, inserted the bulb and then closed the door. However it stayed lit.

Maybe a bad door pin switch.
Does your dash light show a open door when open? If so, when you close the door does it go out?

Thanks, I tested both the small light and the dash light when I opened the door of which both were on, and the small light went out when the ignition was turned on. However the small light did not go out when the door was closed, thus causing the drain on the battery. Thank you so much for pointing me to the way test.
