would not do that - won't be long before there is a Gen3 specific option that does the same for a reasonable cost. Just have to give it time.

I installed the OPTt Light bar on my 2024 Tundra TRD Pro with the Curt 7 pin adapater but I am getting Trailer dtetected message which is disabling RCTA and cross Traffic detection. I have emailed OPT7 for a possible solution. I believe I will need to wire directly to my tailights with their hardwaire kit.

Has anyone done this already? Successfully so no trailer detected message?

I installed another brand (XKGlow) and new pro flare lights on my Platinum with no issues with the seven pin inline adapter.

I just figured out my mistake that I had the reverse wire hooked up incorrectly on the wiring curt harness adapter. You do not need to wire OPT7 to Lights directly.

Mainly allows the Ass Hat that is about to rearend you a clear look at his target! JMO, but I do like the extra light exposure they provide and have considered adding them.

Yeah, I've liked it. So far I've had no led's burn out and its working well. I initially attached with the clips (not the easiest things to clip into or remove from) and then switched to velcro. Didn't want to use the provided double-sided tape since this blocks the spare tire opening. You really don't have much room under the tailgate to maneuver.

If I did it again, I'd buy this one

Use the 4 pin flat connector. It doesn’t detect trailers connected.

I bought the red version of this and it fits just perfect under the tailgate section. The reason why red is that the rearturn ligts match. Buy the Tacoma per the link above. If it was any bigger there are some bolts on each side and the natural cut out stops.

Gen3? If so, how much clearance as the tailgate bottom swings by?

think when you use the 4 pin flat connector you don't get the backup light option the 7 pin provides.

I considered purchase of the noted option - OPT7 but was waiting to see if they would update information to indicate it was applicable to the Gen3 Tundra. Not sure my Gen3 SR5 has the sequential turn lights - guess I need to go out and see! What Gen3 model you riding?

It blocked/covered the hole for the spare tire.

If I get a flat I could also work around the blocked hole problem.

As the tailgate goes up and down it just clears the lights - perfectly as I positioned it.

Other than the spare tire hole being blocked i really like how this fits and works.

I have the backup light from these twin lights bars and the Morimoto License plate back up light bar - the XP.

When I put in reverse I get plenty of light.

Alos I think the Red version of the OPT7 is the way to go to match the red turn lights we already have.

The light bar will be sequential even if your taillights aren't. My 2.5 gen doesn't have sequential tails but the lightbar does and it works well. It stays in sync with the blinker which is nice (they both start at the same time).

How does the thickness of the OPT7 compare to the morimoto? I mounted XP's on both sides of the license plate, clearance when the tailgate dropped was not a lot.

Bit the bullet and purchased the Opt7 redline paralux triple row LED w/pnp harness referenced above (post #41). After discounts and deals it was $122 shipped. Thanks to those who have posted and shared on this thread - very much appreciated!

The Opt7s have 3 rows of LED, one for running and turn, 2nd (middle) for back-up - what is the third row?

Don't know the answer to that but I'm pretty sure it is on their webpage. Maybe the backup is a dedicated row and not shared with the running/turn/emergency. ???

I received the linked opt 7 today. Middle is white, one row is running / turn (brake). No indication on what third row is used for, it does not light. I'll wire the running and brake wires together for brake as it's the brightest. I only want the brake light function and will be using a modulator. Hopefully ge a break in the rain tomorrow to work the install.

Edit: Never mind. The third row is the sequential. It's triggered when the turn is pulsed. Does not come on for brake.

Did you wire the backup with the extra wire from the 4-pin into the harness center pin connection? This is wire connection for reverse lights.

I'm already running additional brake and backup lights from a 7pin interface. I'll convert the flat 4 pin to weatherpack connectors. It's gonna be a xmas tree - anything to reduce the opportunity to be rear-ended.

Did the install today. Used the clips to be able to remove the bar to access the tire crank. Decent clearances. That typed, mine are going back. The lights have a bit of delay behind the factory brake lights - this does not work with a light modulator. I had previously installed my factory fogs as backup lights - all set there.

If used for the intended purpose, they work well.
