Hey Everyone my 2000 Tundra SR5 makes a single clank type noise whenever I do a U turn, it only makes it once when I'm turning it. Doesn't make any noise when I turn it back to straight or when I do tight left turns, it's only once on U turns at the end of the turn. Any suggestions?

Either lower ball joints or CV axle would be my guess.

It could just be the steering stops at full lock. When making a full lock U-turn, back off just a quarter turn on the steering wheel. See if that changes anything. Otherwise it could be your tire rods or ball joints. How is the alignment or your tires wearing?

I Was Thinking Lower ball joints, but this is my first tundra so thought a second opinion would be nice. Thank you!

I'll give it a try today with backing off on the turn. Hard to tell how the tires are wearing, got the truck with new tires and haven't been able to take it out much, but I'll inspect today.

I’ve made a habit of not going full lock when making tight turns. I’ve heard that it’s bad for the steering rack. You’ll notice you hear a little change in the pump sound. So I’m under the impression it’s bad for the seals. Also at full lock the stops rub and when the suspension articulates it makes a little grind or a loud noise of metal on metal. I first noticed it on my 79 Toyota when I was a kid, backing out of the driveway, I was like WTF is that noise!

Yeah, unfortunately pretty much anytime I want to leave my base I have to make this tight u turn, looks like I'll be the guy holding up a little traffic with a 3 point turn :rofl:oh well! they'll get over it
