So planning a move for next year and I'm going to use the 18x18 U-Haul boxes to hold stuff in the bed and cab, how many of those boxes could fit in the bed? I know roughly it should be around 12-13 plus 3-4 in the cab but that seems like alot, the math just isn't clicking into real life for me

    What length bed?
They’re just under 60” wide so you’re only getting 3x3 (9 boxes one layer) in the 5’ bed

You’re not taking into account the bump from the wheel wells in the bed.

It's an access cab so I'm guessing you're right, so about 9 in the bed with 3 in the back seat with 1 in the passenger

Have you considered renting a Uhaul trailer? I rented an 8x5 a few months ago for $25 or 24 hours. It was a local move and by reducing the number of trips using only my truck bed it probably saved me $25 in gas.

The Uhaul worker told me they had too many trailers at that location and if I was going one way out of there. I could get a free trailer rental. If your buying boxes at Uhaul ask about the cost of a trailer rental.

They really upped their prices, the only way to get even a trailer for cheap is local moving

Grab yourself a bungee cargo net from harbor freight. You’ll get more in the bed than you think. Maybe even a better idea to buy plastic totes from Walmart. 5 bucks each, reusable and not ruined if they get wet. Had 3 of them in the bed for my 2400 mile road trip with all the beach crap inside them. Worked great with the totes and the hf net.

I’d post a pic but I won’t edit my stickers on my back window, got my hand smacked once here for that.

I would think Lowe's or Home Depot or somewhere would be way cheaper for boxes than Uhaul. Usually Uhaul supplies are ultra marked up.

Boxes are free, especially if you have time to gather. Ask your produce dept to save apple boxes for you.
