I am planning on loosening my stock Ubolts to install a new bumpstop, was wondering if most people get new U bolts or if they just retighten the ones they have? Truck is a 2021 so not much wear I would imagine.

From my knowledge, it’s always recommended to replace. But, before I knew that, I have reused them on previous trucks without issue. I want to say they are torque to yield and give a certain amount of stretch.

97ABF725-33FD-440A-93F4-BAEB345A8173.jpg This is the results of ubolt being reused. One of them snapped off. I bought the truck with what looked like ubolt that came from a big lift kit. Drive shaft snapped after parking it.

I had no load luckily when it happened. Took off from a traffic light and heard a big clunk in the bed. Pulled over and saw a snapped ubolt. Went into a parking lot and brushed the curb pulling into a parking spot. Rear axle shifted and the bed dropped from my spacer block falling off. $2500 later it is fixed.

Wow, certainly makes the case for spending 20-30 bucks, if that, for new ubolts!

I've reused them, but I wouldn't if you are lifting with blocks, doesn't sound like you are though. Just torque them right.
