Has anyone just decided to just get their new oem drums machined as soon as they get them to ensure they aren't round from factory, shipping, etc? I think I read a post here or somewhere about it. And is it recommended?

I’ve known people to do that with aftermarket but never OEM. You pay enough for them, why should you have to pay to turn them?

Nah. True OEM Toyota won't steer you wrong. There's a reason you pay a premium. Worth it IMO.

I'd also really not trust some of those mass chain auto places to turn drums. If you had some that were already janky, then maybe, but I'd wager that a new OEM one would come out of the process in less decent shape than it went in.

I’ve never heard of genuine OEM arriving out of spec. Imagine if the service bay had to turn the drums for every vehicle on a basic brake job? Ahit would never fly. They arrive ready to bolt up.
