I wish the Toyota app had a turbo cool down feature. That way it would turn car off after the turbo cooled down.

After the truck turns off and after the electric water pump cools down the turbos, the truck stays on?

It doesnt need it. Almost every car since like 2005 has had a water cooled turbo and its simply not necessary unless your are running it at the track or something.

Nevermind that the electric pump that flows the intercooler coolant also pumps coolant through the turbos. Since its electric they can run it at any time as long as your battery isnt dead

Just shut it down. They have systems that operate afterward to cool the turbos. Been that way for a long time.

It’s weird cause the 2022 owners manual does mention turbo cool down time, but only after driving under a high load. I’m guessing they’re mainly just covering their butts though.

They all say that, but the highlighted portion is important.

Yes, don't climb a mountain and immediately shut it off. Don't run 80 down the interstate and then immediately shut it off. If you ran an hour on the interstate to get to a different city and then spend 20 minutes at less than 50 MPH to get to the movie theater, grocer, etc. then you are fine to shut it down.

Sure if you had it floored going up Pikes Peak and then immediately slammed on the brakes, threw it in park, and shut the engine off, then MAYBE, you could manage to do something to the turbos.

But even then, they still have the electric pump, so Coolant would never stop flow and would not flow at a lower rate.

Also, you’d think the computer would monitor and prevent the start/stop from working. A lot of people don’t even crack the manual. Last used tundra I got had the plastic still on it

Apparently you've never traveled with little kids. When they say they've got to go to the bathroom "now" it generally means they had to go 15 minutes ago and are about to piss themselves. LoL. I've had to pull over in the middle of a steep grade or mountain pass while towing my old trailer more times than I wish to count. My EGTs would be sky high when I pulled off on the nearest turnout. I never turned off my truck though because of this reason. But yes you are right, generally these are not normal scenarios.

I was gonna say, pull over, pop passenger doors, and let them pee between the doors. Don't have to shut down for it.

That's generally what we did but if I left it up to my wife she would have shut the truck down every time because it's wasting fuel or the exhaust fumes are coming in the cab. LoL. First world problems

Teachable moment. A basic explanation that the truck will cease function if not allowed to cool after stress goes a long way with significant others.
