The one downside to my schedule is that there are no short weeks. 7 on/7 off regardless of holidays and such. Still, working and getting my normal pay, plus the extra 8 for the holiday is a nice bonus on the check.

That would be a bit of a bummer, but good in that you know you’ll have that week off and makes planning for get out of town and whatnot easier.

Definitely. I can make plans a year in advance, and the way the pay works allows me to use 80 hours of vacation to get 3 weeks off. Haven't done it, but I plan to at some point.

And if you know a week you may be working and want that time off, could you re-work your schedule to accommodate plans?

No. The schedule is set up so that 4 of us can cover the job 24/7. Shifts A, B, C, and D. A and B always work opposing shifts, as do C and D. So A works days, B works Nights, and C and D are off. It's basically a rolling 28 day schedule. Because there are only 4 of us in these positions you can't rearrange your schedule at all. You can use vacation, and OT or other personnel from other jobs cover, but you can't change what shift you are working.

Aaah, that is understandable, then. At least reliable schedule. I try to take off when my judge is gone so the office doesn't have to cover me so I'm more likely to get the time off, but am tied into her plans so to speak. During the year if I'm going off-roading I'll just call out, need my mental health day away from here every so often..

Yeah, sick pay would work, but I haven't used it. I try to give as much notice as possible. I like my boss, and my schedule, so I accomodate them as much as possible.

Yeah, I try to be as accommodating as possible, when possible. I've given them 28 long hard working years and have been making time for myself. Life is short, been putting off fun for too long. Need me time...

Could be a routing issue. Are you guys using different providers? Are your other contacts that get through on T-Mobile as well?

    Trying not to mod it
If you are both on the same provider (T-mobile) it could be a problem with whatever company provides the voicemail services for T-mobile in your area, thought it sounds like the system is automatically rejecting his call to VM rather than giving it a chance to ring. That could be routing or provisioning. Something that their translations team would need to look into. This is all going off the assumption that both devices have been power cycled. It's the old IT solution, but it fixes 9 out of 10 cellular issues if they are device based rather than network/switch related. Also assuming that neither of you are roaming on another network.
