Nope. Not even before BudLight made great marketing decisions.

I need to rewatch "Ghost and the Darkness" as well. I've not seen it since it was in theaters when I was young.

I actually broke my finger getting out of the car at the theater, so I sat there holding it in my hand through the movie. Sucked when I would get a scare because I involuntarily squeezed that finger and it broke immersion a bit.

Ok fellas, gotta rant a bit...

So Mega Millions raised the price of their tickets from $2 per drawing to $5 per drawing. I was never a huge spender on lottery tickets, but I would always get 1 ticket per drawing between Mega Millions/Powerball/State Lottery. So between $10-$12 per week on 7 tickets as Powerball added an additional drawing on Monday's.

I never got more than 3 numbers on any of my Mega Millions tickets over the 15ish years of buying at least 1 ticket per drawing. For the $1-$2 per drawing I didn't much care about the odds being astronomically not in my favor.

I just can't get over the mental hurdle of $5 per ticket. Yeah, I can afford the additional $6 a week it would increase my lottery spend at the 1 ticket per drawing rate I get tickets at. I just can't convince myself it's worth it as even at $1-$2 it never really was but it was such a small amount that I never cared.

I could throw away $4 a week without feeling irresponsible but $10 is what I would spend for the entire week between Mega/Power/State lottery combined.

I'll stick to Powerball and my state lottery moving forward. If they increase the Powerball ticket price then I will just get tickets for my state lottery.

I don't need or even want a $500m+ jackpot. Enough money to buy a house somewhere for cash and a lower stress job to make ends meet would be life changing for me. I think that is what many people who buy these tickets want.

While no one would turn down $500m, $2m-$3m or even just the chance to pay off all debts and start over financially would be life changing for the average lottery ticket buyer who isn't getting the tickets because they are a gambler.

I'm not a gambler as I never go to casinos not into cards, slots, dice or anything else. I always considered winning the lottery as an impossible dream that was worth the $1-$2 price of admission.

TL : DR - I'm pissing and moaning about the money I will be saving due to not buying Mega Millions lottery tickets in the future...:sadviolin:

Side note: Back in 2013 I was 1 number away from winning $27 million in my state lottery but won $1,900 instead of the jackpot.

When I was younger, I used to think of $1M as being a big lottery jackpot. Now it wouldn't even buy a decent house with a proper amount of land far away from people.

When I think about money and what I consider life changing, I think about how it would change my decisions. If I had $1 million in cash, I would immediately move to another state, buy a house for $500k in cash and work a low key low stress job for the health insurance coverage. I would gladly take a 50% pay cut to never work more than 8 hours a day, worry about another deadline, work late nights, weekends, etc...

I'd like to think I would be one of the few folks that could handle winning a boat-load.

    ...probably not.

my problem would be fighting the in-laws....so, I would have to be confidential about the whole thing.

which is fine for me....but the wife? NOT A CHANCE

If I won anything over $10 million, I would hire a law firm to handle giving my friends/family money. I would disappear into the Montana wilderness never to be seen or heard from again by any of them...

Maybe host an annual Tundra's to Montana event!

My wife is the opposite, she says if we ever won big money, we wouldn't tell a soul.
Although I'm sure some people would figure it out when we disappeared.

We would get set up for life, home, vehicles, travel, whatever.
Maybe give a few family members and close friends something, maybe not.
Some would go to St Jude's and a few other charities.

I feel that winning a ridiculous amount of money would be more detrimental than beneficial.
I'd be happy winning anything, but clearing a million would set us for life..

I would have a gigantic 5 car, RV car garage (shop) setup, on some land and lots of cars and motorcycles. I would also have a lot of eggs- so there would be signs

At this point in life, I would be happy with winning a couple $100k. Just enough to pay off the last of the mortgage and maybe a couple of new vehicles. I'm already retired from one career so my health insurance is covered by that. It's just that what we had saved for retirement just isn't worth what it was a few years ago. I'd also like to retire from this stupid job at the state, I'm just too much of an asshole to be a social worker.

Funny you bring this up. I saw it pop up on our smart tv feed the other day. I remember seeing it when it came out but haven't seen it again since. From what I recall I generally liked the movie and thought Douglas played the role well. Watch "Traffic" for another one of his great performances.

My music tastes are a little different from what is commonly discussed here. There are a few a random songs I go back to time and again that aren't related to my usual fare.

Keep in mind, I despise country music...

About a dozen years ago… maybe longer now… they had a major security breach and kinda blew it off. Since the platform had started turning into a “who has the most links” already I closed my account and never looked back.

There’s a certain kind of co-worker that comes to work each day not to do the job, but just to meet people, network and basically look for a level-up off the backs of their peers. LinkedIn is for them…

I think it was the "What are you listening to?" thread where I poke my head in once in a while, where one of you gents had posted this one:

Back when FOS or Duran Duran or any number of similar bands came out, I enjoyed their music, but not their image. Does that make sense?
Maybe it was FOS lead singer's haircut (go watch the original version of the video from '82) or something else. The group I hung with thought them to be incredibly "ghey" for whatever reason and FOS became known as Flock of Douchebags.

All I know now is, I can't watch the modern version with the orchestra (now 6 years old) and see the balding, smiling old guys still sounding good, without a big smile on my own face.

Ok, here's a question for you music lovers: say you could selectively erase a tiny portion of your memory - a single album - so you could listen to it again now as if it was your first time hearing it. Which album would you choose and why?

Maybe that's another way of asking which album had the most profound impact on you when you first heard it?
