Good morning everyone and happy New year.

 

Woke up to -7 degrees outside and my propane frozen.

I use propane for hot water, stove, fireplace.......and HEAT.

It was NOT a good morning.

I feel for you I was awake for a couple of hours this morning before I looked out the window to see my big garage had one of the 16' doors open.
I instantly shit myself because I heat the garage full time and have a boat sitting in it with water in the motor. So I run outside and it -2 everything is cold and heater is not running. After I check everything out luckily no frozen motor and had to bring a portable heater to get everything to start warming up. The heater that's in the garage would not work so I ended up by passing the thermostat to get it going. Now everything is working thankfully I think everything is ok now. What a way to start the new year.

Thanks it was a stressful hour around here.
Oh and I used as much propane in one night as I have all winter.

 

I'm sure it was. Hopefully you locked a decent price in on propane. I don't even know how much it is. We use gas for everything here.

 

Tell who ever fills your propane to put menthol in your tank it helps the propane not freeze it is freezing because it has some water in the tank. My brother used to work for a propane company.

 

I wish I was on natural gas but luckily I do alot of work for a guy that owns a propane Company so he treats me right. thanks

never knew this.. see learned somthin' today

use propane for heat as well and also have a 30,000 btu propane heat in the garage to keep my a$$ & the bike warm

but, good thing.. it doesn't get crazy cold around here like some of you are experiencing.

 

Yeah, they're supposed to come today to put a half gallon in. Its thawed now but its still -6 out so who knows if/when it'll freeze up again until the methanol arrives.

20 minutes outside with a hair dryer sucks.

 

We'll go luck hope yours keeps going for you.

 

Just went out to check on the garage and everything is starting to heat back up. When you breathe at head height everything looks good when near the floor and you can see your breath. Everything is normally 56° so who knows how long until everything is back up to normal temperature again.
You can see the frost on my new wheels.

 

Next big project at the house is finishing the basement. I guess the garage will have to wait....

did it in three continual phases while living there

the garage man cave was the last thing.
built a ton of cabinets in there.
I absolutely enjoyed it.. I got scared when I was getting near the end.. I said to myself..

now what am I going to do.
