Only if I have too. Mornings are better than the rest of the day. But the wife just informed me the shopping list is not ready so the store will have to wait until tomorrow.

Depends on the reason for sleep deprivation. Years back I'd get the giggles when I just stayed up, but it's different when you can't sleep. At least for me it is. Eventually exhaustion wins, though, and then I'm dead for 10-14 hours.

Living on 3-6hrs sleep a day for basically my whole life has begin to catch up a little.

Currently, doing the Da Vinci/Kramer sleep program.
    May help with my creativity.

No clue what that sleep program is.

I used to sleep better all the time, but that was better than a decade ago. Now it just is what it is. Some nights I sleep through, others I wake up a million times, and then there are those where sleep is elusive and I'm lucky to get a couple hours in before the next day. :notsure:

Eventually I'll get my numb, DGAF mentality back, and then I should be able to sleep again.

    Hope you get some sleep.

Haha! Never did watch a lot of Seinfeld, so my apologies for not getting the reference.

I'll sleep when I'm dead. Appreciate the well wishes though.
The shift work hasn't changed my sleeping at all, really.

Try magnesium about half hour before bed. Natural Calm is one brand, but magnesium glycinate is better absorbed in the body. Don’t take too much - it can be a powerful laxative in too high of doses (the shit they give you pre-coloniscopy too flush you out is magnesium). But at the right dose it will help with sleep and muscle cramping (typically people think that low potassium causes muscle cramps, and it will, but magnesium is just as likely a cause because the two really should be maintained in similar levels). Just follow the directions on the container.

taking melatonin before sleep can also help a lot with getting restful sleep, as can CBD drops under the tongue or topicals on the temples (though most topicals smell like skunk ass and I’m not a fan).

Doesn’t hurt to consider getting a sleep study done as well and possibly look into a CPAP - especially if your physical condition is on the heavy side.

I've taken sominex, no clue what's in it anymore, and it sucked ass. Lost 8 hours, but felt like I blinked and had cotton mouth and a borderline migraine.

Melatonin had a similar, but less dramatic outcome for me.

I don't sleep because of what's in my head. It's nothing physical. Until I get that sorted, I'm just where I am.

I appreciate the advice and concern from all of you guys.

I’ve found the nights that I take magnesium, there’s much less shit in my head trying to surface. But everyone’s different.
Black out curtains can also help, especially with shift work.

Today is my Friday, and good grief are we gonna finish the week strong. Tons of stuff broke late in the shift yesterday, and it's still broken now. Conflicting reports, and tracing the issue is pointing to multiple carriers that all say it's not them. :duel: Got our guys checking out stuff too.

My Friday will be spent :goingcrazy: until quitting time at witch point I'll be :lalala: and then I think I'll :burnrubber: to chill. :D

Weird dream last night about dove hunting. An old friend I haven't seen in years, a weird Six Flags queue to get to the field, hundreds of hunters, a huge flock of dove that looked like a mackerel bait ball, a bobcat following me like a puppy - hours of this kid of shit. All to wake up at the end remembering that I haven't renewed my hunting and fishing license yet...

Apparently those licenses are important to you, or at least their on your subconscious mind.

It's a bit of a rub for me. Not sure other states, but TX has a 'super combo' hunting and fishing, the only adds needed are federal stamps. I get that thing along with waterfowl every year. I'd likely buy it anyway - license fees pay for conservation - but I've been hunting less and less over the past few years. My uncle's ranch is 200 miles off, my son is at a horribly busy time in life, it's expensive - - all the problems... My grandsons are coming up, though; so I hope to make better use of the licenses I buy very soon.

TX has a law that if you have 10 acres or more of unimproved land, the middle of a municipality or not, you can hunt birds. I'm in pretty dense suburbia with only a few hay fields left, and I can hear dove coming down in the morning when I sit at my desk with coffee. That and the disappointment of a cold barrel are probably what drove the dream.

Yeah, I've fallen out of hunting. Wyoming does it pretty dumb now. They're trying to cash in on it, so they actually withhold a certain number of licenses for out of state purchase because they make more off of it. Real crappy thing to do to your local hunters, plus the conservation stamp just went up by nearly 50% in cost. They say it's to get better access, but until I start seeing some landlocked public land being made accessible, I don't believe it. It is just too expensive.

The Joe Rogans of the world are ruining hunting IMO. Private land owners are getting to the point that they want extortion level fees for access to anything, and that's their right, but it only happens because rich hipster hunters come in and are willing to pay hundreds or thousands a day for access. That then becomes the requirement, and locals can't afford that crap.

I see hunting going the way of horses. 110 years ago everyone had a horse and only the rich had cars, but now it's the opposite. Everyone has a car, and nobody but the rich have horses kind of thing. Hunting has been turned into a hobby that is just getting more and more expensive. It's no longer a way to put food on your table and save some money; it's a hobby you can't do without some level of disposable income.

Unless you have $$$, yeah. It's just not a cost effective food source, and I don't enjoy the hobby aspect of it enough to warrant the cost anymore.

We're surrounded by public land up here in WA, WY not the same? I heard TX is mostly private.
Hunting is definitely not cost effective to get in to, but once you have the guns and gear the price per pound you harvest is dirt cheap.
All that said, I love hunting and don't do it to save money. :D

Wife's buck from last year we are still eating on.

Yeah, TX has only 1% publicly available hunting. That drives hunters into that space in numbers that make it not such a great time. There's only one lake in N. TX that has lakefront waterfowl hunting, and the last time I went you had to start swinging your elbows at 3 a.m. to find a comfy spot with any more than 50 yards between you and the other hunters. Boo.

Private leases are still available at rates that make it doable - the last lease I was on asked for $7k for 600 acres for the (entire 12 month) year, and we split between a few folks. There are guided hunts and exotics in high fences if that's your thing.

Plenty of good and bad about Texas hunting.

    Also - - nice trophy

Between the tag, the conservation stamp, travel to whatever area, lost OT if taking time off work, and the processing of game after a successful harvest... it's just too expensive compared to buying meat from the grocer or butcher.

I may be a unique case though, as I know some who process their own game to save the cost, and it offsets a lot for them. The difference, I guess, is that I don't have the passion for hunting that others do. I appreciate it, and enjoy it, but I'd much rather go out wheeling the truck, riding the SxS, or fly fishing than hunting. I go with friends to hang out, and I will help pack animals out, but I don't have the desire to harvest any myself.
