Do piston rings travel less or more with varying rpm?

Congrats Adam. So long to the Tunny and hello to the Taco. That thing is going to be a cop magnet. No way to hide it or have it blend into the crowd. (It is about time that we emerged from the mundane palette of black, gray, silver and white.)

You say from you perfectly camouflaged MGM! Good thing it's not easy to be dumb in a Taco. Should still be safe.

At best I'm just an average diy mechanic but I've heard varying rpm's is better for the rings so they don't find a home on the cylinder wall.

I've heard about the rings too, but never seen anything other than internet discussion. Think our manual (and the Turd I had before this) mentioned the gearing as the reason. Who knows...I follow it religiously so it doesn't matter....either way I'm good

Looking good...I do love the orange that came on the TRD Pro a few years ago so that Taco speaks to me. Well, other than it being a Taco.

I think I'm going to give some star photography a shot tonight. Bought a tripod a while back and for various reasons I keep not using it. Recently learned that there is an app for my phone that has a specific setting for taking pictures of stars. Only a low of 32 tonight so hopefully it goes well.

What app and what phone? I’ve been wanting to mess with this on my iPhone but hate downloading questionable apps. My old Pixel was pretty solid at it on its own though.

I totally understand not wanting random apps. I have a Samsung s22 ultra and Samsung themselves released an app called expert raw that allows more advanced photography. I don't know anything about iPhones but I do know that YouTube can be a huge help and possibly reddit on finding out how to make the best of your phone.

Central bulge of the Milky Way is not currently visible but you can still capture the rest of the Milky Way or constellations. You want the largest aperture possible in order to keep the exposure time short to permit the sensor to capture stars as spots of light - instead of having stars as lines of light that you will see with longer exposures. Best done with a camera with a full frame sensor.

I definitely could be wrong (and we'll find out tonight hopefully) but I believe the app actually uses the OIS to follow the stars to avoid streaking seeing as the only options for capture are from 4 to 10 minutes. It also has a function to pan across the sky and identify what stars and constellations you're looking at.

I'd like to know what app that is! If it does the tracking then the phone better be kept extremely solid - no movement. If it does track then that is really a neat app and very sophisticated.

Try to get Mars while you're at it. It's raining here right now, so we can't see shit. But, the last 5 nights we've been able to see Mars w/naked eye. Look somewhat south sweeping from slightly east to slightly west.

Forward looking camera, Stub Antenna, 3M clearshield. A few other non lifted items.
I’ll have to look for mars when it gets clear in WA. Jupiter and its moons were visible about a month ago. I have a telescope and still a novice. I have an app Star Walk that I find useful, on iPhone and iPad. I do t know about other phones. I took a snapshot of the screen, showing mars off to the east. I’m north of Seattle by 35 miles. 85D7BD1E-AACE-4CDE-8FB0-3C2430EF3B92.jpg

Alrighty, first good attempt. Definitely learned some things to make it better next time. Not sure how well they'll look after compression on here, should probably create a flickr account so I can post full res here. Also @French Avocado by what means the Expert Raw app does it I do not know, but there is no streaking and most of these were done on 4 minutes with a couple done on 7 and 10 minutes

Long and boring drive. Very little to report. Just tired and resting before doing it again to head home.

I did learn/remember somethings about driving in Texas again.
    1. You are not allowed to drive the speed limit. Above the limit; Below the limit; NEVER at the actual limit.
    2. If someone is ahead of you, it is imperative that you pass them. It does not matter if you are going slower than they are. You can slow back down once you are in front, but passing is not optional.
