Even better... @LarryDangerfield can start an onlyfans w/that relationship and make some side $$$$

...or if that doesn't work out, he can just create a reddit account and produce some 'high quality' content for some of the fetish folks out there

I still can’t believe I haven’t shoveled snow at all so far. We had one small storm early on, but with no accumulation. Looks like that might change tonight but we are not expected to get much. :annoyed:

Whatever this forum told me to do
when Mich Ultra came out...I was stunned. <I was at Budweiser distrib back then.>

I could not believe that simply taking all the flavor out of a full flavor brew would be marketable.

it's now the top selling brew @ A/B.

They brew Michelob, then let the yeast eat all the flavor out of the wort.

and people buy it. the slim can is all part of it...

it's still flabbergasting that people want beer that does not taste like beer...or has all the beer flavor brewed out of it.

but, here we are.....the top selling beers are near flavorless.

There is now a bud Zero...GTFOH

The wife and I have been watching Landman (she's in the land department at an oil and gas co.). It's got a lot of product placement written into it, one item of which is Michelob Ultra. The show is selling it as 'low alcohol', which depending on your point of view is a total lie. Google says ABV is 4.2%, which is equal to other lite beers, and only .8% lower than Michelob.

Plus, the way they're 'selling' it is by having the protagonist, an alcoholic, drink MichUltra instead of whiskey, 'because it's so low in alcohol it doesn't even count'. I'm sure at some point in the next season they're going to have him belly up to the bar and drain 2 pints of Garrison Brothers or Balcones (they're in Texas, after all). Meantime, smearing the irresponsibility off the main character and onto the message of the show is a bit disappointing (otherwise the show is okay).

I wish there was a way to actually verify the alcohol content of Mic Ultra. I never believed it has as much alcohol as what is stated on the can.

It's a strange phenomenon for sure. At my house I've only had to run the snowblower four times, yet the resorts around me have been getting much more snow according to season totals so far.

without going in to details about my line of work...

    yes... yes they do...

and the guberment creates a beautiful distribution flow that is now crushing small businesses and making these millionaires move into the multi... its fascinating in that world. from the brewer to the distributor...

peel off a couple layers for us.

my knowledge is this: <I got out in '04.>
Distrib's have trucks that go to every beer retailer.
    A/B used to be exclusive.
now that they are a foreign brewery, they can put whatever they want on those trucks.....or NOT.
lot's of deal's getting made. some are ugly.

Alberta recently changed our tax laws to make it easier for microbreweries to get started and it's been great. The number of craft breweries in the province has exploded.

microbrews get snarfed up by the big brewers in TX.

    mainly due to distribution issues.

Not much has changed there, it is still a legal mafia.

As mentioned, feds make it so a brewer has to use a distributor. To become a distributor, or to buy and existing one, the brewer has to approve... *side eye... The distributor moves their products, usually beer/water/soda/tobacoo to the retailers. New retailers are bad for distributors, so they incentivize the big boys to grow, not expand. Brewers do the same. They want JJ Taylor to own all of Florida, Gulf to own all of Alabama, Furher PA, etc....

Molson Coors and AB are still the power houses. There are a couple small ones out there, but they all get bought by these two because they have sole distribution rights to the majority. For a small brand to become successful, they have to sell out. And to sell out, they run the risk of being shelved or having their product changed.

Brewers had adding skus. Distributors hate adding skus. Retailers dont care as long as it sells.

Obviously this is all broad stroke so there are exceptions. but this is pretty accurate as of today.

Distributors basically print money. but being one comes with its own BS. they can order whatever they want, but they will receive whatever the brewers send. So if a distributor grows and adds sqft to their building and the brewer finds out, they will shove it down their throats. It took AB over a year to acknowledge their f up with bud light and start taking it back.

microbrews get snarfed up by the big brewers in America.

this one is fun. The big boys hate these becuase they keep adding skus. Plus, modern refrigeration solved the need for IPAs. So I am biased... hard pass 99% of the time for me.

But to answer your question, very few. The majority of IPAs are micro brews and the big boys dont want them because they dont move enough. The ones that do, say Goose Island, are snubbed by the IPA snobs and further proves the point that IPAs are a status thing... so anytime the big boys pick on up, the consumer tries them and then snubs them. so they typically fade away.
