I found a cool new stupid sport called American Ice Hockey. It's guys in hockey pads wearing football helmets and bowling shoes. On ice. Pretty entertaining, but I won't get addicted to watching it unless we get a local team. Then I'm in.

Hard to see cause I had to zoom in to the tree in my neighbors backyard, but this is one of the little fuckers that wake me up at night. I thought that owls are supposed to be quiet during the day, but this asshole was doing the damn "who, who, who" shit anyways.
If they'd do their damn job and eat all the mice that keep invading my garage I wouldn't mind as much but they're not.

I'm lost. Are there two or one there? I absolutely get you, though. The owls, coyotes, fox, and other wildlife often keeps the family awake. Surprisingly, no trash picking.

Ours used to be that way.

    NOW
Ours is one bucket but with two accrual systems.
32 hrs for “sick” gets added the first pay period each year.
“Vacations” accrues weekly according to your tenure (they use a 50-week accrual baseline).
But it’s all in one account, with a maximum of 320 hours in the bank. When/if you hit max, you get an extra check for 80 hours.

It’s all PTO - use it as you see fit (with out it impacting your work). But the accrual still has basis in separate “sick” vs “vacation”

We have quite a few in our area. There’s a couple of great horned that raise their young in our neighbor’s maple trees. And a huge barn owl lives in another neighbor’s maple tree on the road out of our little group of properties - I’ll see it once a month or so when I’m leaving for work.

It does well for me, especially since going on salary where “there are no partial days of PTO.”

So I get a couple of extra checks a year in exchange for sending a few emails and making a couple calls when I’m on vacation

Some dudes at my work get like $15-20k checks at the end of the year cuz they're maxed out and don't use much PTO. Wild shit

I have hunted a Whippoorwill with a shotgun in my underwear at 1:00 a.m. because they wouldn't shut up. I felt like a cartoon with wide open bloodshot eyes. They're horrible camping buddies.
