Last Friday I had an introductory phone interview with a hiring manager for a position I had applied to a week before. Interview seemed to go well, hoping to get an invite for a 2nd round in person interview this week.

Thanks! We'll see how it plays out. I'm considering doing some contract/temp work just to move up my exit from my current employer.

Life is too short to stick around in a job you don't enjoy working for a crappy employer.

 

Honestly, I'd wait to see how the week goes. You might get your second interview and an offer, and that could be complicated by contract or temp work.

If you applied Friday and got the call today there's only a few explanations.

1. They have an ultra efficient HR department.
2. Your application stood out and they want to snap you up ASAP.
3. No one else is applying for the position.

Hightly doubt number one. HR departments, in my experience, tend to be slow in order to always appear to be working/busy.

Hoping it's number two. (Mind out of the gutter, people!)

Number three is more likely than number one, but less desirable than number two.

 

I had applied a week before (4/18) and had the first round phone interview the following Friday (4/25). I asked the hiring manager what the next steps were at the end of the interview and what the timelines were around moving forward. She mentioned there would be a second round in person interview and that they would notify candidates the following week (meaning sometime this week).

Either way, it is an improvement over my current job. I am so ready to hand in my notice it's not even funny. I'm at the point where I dread going into work.

I was out the door (before tax) at $45,134 and did a long loan to keep monthly payment down. This way I can pay extra and hit the principal more.

You can always try and find a low milage 21 for cheaper. Just sayin'...

I bought a used 12 in 21. Don't regret it for a second. Had 63k in milage and only paid $24k including dealer fees.
