That's what happens when you have to go with the lowest bidder. Each one does it the easiest way for them just to get the contract. Is it fair to ask which medical center this is? Texas has a few.

It did at first but I do take it off to eat and shower so not that bad. I can now drive and 5lb weight restriction is removed!! Not out of the woods yet, my hand feels the same as it did before the operation so there is that

Have you talked with @ColoradoTJ about it? I believe he had his home built IIRC. @T-Rex266 might have insight as well, but I think that was a developer/tract home?

    *break*

I was remembering a time when I had access to a Alfa Romeo Spider Veloci straight 6. The mechanic at Ferrari of Seattle emphasized getting the rpm's up while driving it. That thing was a sleeper of a ride.

Anyway, is there any benefit treating the 5.7 similarly?

Having logged 50k miles in S mode, I think it does, at least for engine braking.

    I average mid 11mpg. Liveable w/ 37's on stock gears+shell/slide/spare/jack.

posted in this thread for brevity:anonymous:

Italian tune ups can blow out the carbon in places they might build up during tame driving. Odds of it being anything significant can be debated until the cows come home.

    backstory.....

The Italian mechanic took extra special care of said Spider. He was sweet on the owner, who was a smoke show bizness lady.

My '08 spent a lot of time in S mode while towing; mostly to save the brakes and to keep it from bumping from 4th to 5th and back to 4th constantly uphills... that being said, if I'm coming off of fwy speeds even w/o towing and slap it to S4 to bleed off some speed before applying the brakes and then down to S3 as the brakes are applied it seems to definitely take much longer before the rotors start to warp.

Regarding the actual benefit to the engine of spending time at higher rpms, I don't think the 5.7 cares :notsure: My '08 is creeping up on 285k driving it w/o concern of where the RPM band lies and regardless of the towing and sometimes harsh application of the gas pedal throughout its life :D

The 5.7 seems happy doing whatever is asked of it as long as it's getting its fluids changed regularly. I'm not sure if high rpms help the engine internals or not. I've also heard that higher rpms help the catalytic converters stay healthy longer, but who knows??

That all being said, you may see an improvement in MPG with a gear change since you're on 37s. I know that wasn't even your question, but hell I just woke up and my thoughts aren't all there yet; hence my rambling....

You know what would be funnier than shit though... Is if the Gen 2 and 2.5s had a feature where it would play 'jake brake' sounds out of the speakers when you slapped it into S mode and used the lower gears for braking

Oh well, so much for brevity; carry on!!!!!

    You just wait
My tundra during the time I owned it spent a whole bunch of time in S mode. Especially once I got the dirty deeds exhaust on it. That was one good sounding engine. Even the rev limiter sounded good
