We aren't even allowed to use bark or mulch anymore. Well, technically we can, but it would cause our fire insurance to increase if we were caught.

The goal is to keep anything flammable away from structures, especially in the rural areas like where I live. So decorative rock is a great alternative.
The goal is to minimize fire insurance costs at this point, because they are so out of line.

Yeah... can't wait. The state that already has the highest gas prices in the country are raising them again.

I mean, I like that people hate CA so much, because it's actually keeping people away.
Politics and BS aside, it's still an phenomenal place to live, as long as you stay away from the cities. But I think staying out of the big cities is good advice anywhere in America.

I don't think it is keeping anyone away.
Aren't people fleeing California at this point?

Many are coming here, but unfortunately still voting for the things they fled..

Rode with my wife to the mall last year (she was buying me clothes, and I didn't have any excuses handy), and she scraped a wheel pretty bad on a high curb on the way in. I was looking at it when she came around the car "how much do you think it'll cost to get it fixed?" - - "Dunno, but prolly more than $100". Then I looked at the other wheel on that side, and sure enough, heavy road rash. So I went to the other side to take a peek. She completed the whole set. I was a little curious about the spare, too; but it's safely in the trunk. But I never looked so I don't really know.

I tried something similar. It seemed to work, but we get enough breeze that a lot of water blew out of the pool.

I once gave an engineer that worked for me a free body diagram and asked how much ice to drop the temperature from 90 to 84. I don't remember the exact amount, but it was tons. He said, because I knew you would ask, he gave me the amount of dry ice. It was also an outrageous amount.

I'd gladly get it done for her, but @OldGuy03 is correct about it happening again. And she admits it. She's a very safe driver with other traffic, and I don't think she's ever had a wreck - her fault or not - but those curbs keep jumping out at her.

Whelp, they just released more info about the daughters’ deaths. You don’t want to know…

Separately, in that article they linked to what I read last week about their situation in court. https://mynorthwest.com/crime_blotter/custody-issues-travis-decker/4095731

    Kids these days.....

We went to my wife's cousin's daughter's wedding last night.
It was at a nice venue out in the country.
Outdoor ceremony, then on to inside drinks and snacks, dinner, dancing, cake, and get out.
We left after the dinner, for God's sake, it was a Sunday night.

I was surprised there was no alcohol (knowing her cousin), and the wife and I discussed it on the way home.
My wife is WAY more in touch with the yutes, I don't have a clue.
She said the kids these days don't drink alcohol.
They drink sugary coffee drinks, dirty sodas, smoke pot, and eat pot gummies.
I never heard of a dirty soda, but at the wedding they had a 'Dirty Soda Bar' with sugar-filled soft drinks and bottles of sugary syrup to squirt into the soda.

Not the at the wedding but just to get the idea.

I can understand not having alcohol at a function for cost and liability reasons, but I'm just used to at least beer and wine at a wedding reception.
    I've had a few non-alcoholic beers, and I just don't see a reason for it.

Better NA beer selections for me and hopefully less intoxicated people behind the wheel.

    Yeah, that's weird.
I thought beer and wine at a wedding reception was mandatory
