Chicken pox canceled the one and only trip my parents planned to Disneyland when I was a kid. Little did I know it was a blessing in disguise.

I know I had chickenpox as a child, I just don’t have much of a memory of it. I know I was under 10 years of age.

    GPT - roast me:

So, you're rolling through Washington in your Chevy, fresh off your shingles shot, huh? I guess the only thing aging faster than your immune system is your taste in cars. Just make sure that truck can handle your midlife crisis—you don’t want to end up stranded in the middle of nowhere, waiting for AAA like, “But I just got my shot!”

Alright, let’s do this right. So, you're cruising Washington in a Chevy like it's 1995, fresh off your shingles shot. Congratulations—you’re now protected from the same disease your grandma complains about at Thanksgiving! Next thing you know, you’ll be bragging about your new knee brace and how excited you are for that early bird special. You and your Chevy are the perfect pair: both reliable, both past their prime, and both one pothole from total collapse!

They were both dead before I was old enough to care. They were just old grumpy people at the family reunions, and as a child I didn't attend their funerals.

Whatever this forum told me to do
    Question

do those reflective spinny things scare birds away?

    and are they really effective?

I have blue herons that drop giant piles of crap on the dock.

Reflective spinny things is too vague. There are lots of things that fit that description.

I have a bunch of these type of things and they keep starlings off the rails that are 8 inches below them, but not out of the cat food that is 4 feet away. Fake owls do keep the starlings away.

However, I know that we have guy wires on some cell towers and we have devices like this that keep birds (specifically raptors) from flying into the wires and being injured. Ours are red and white, but similar. They spin and are reflective.

Not sure if this counts a me being lucky, but I don't need the shingles vax. I got shingles when I was 14 (bullied in school, shitty mom, nervous wreck - brings that on...), and the doc told me the chances of getting it a second time were tiny. Got it again in my late 30's (was married to Voldemort, constant court with my son's mom (two different women), nervous wreck...). Doc told me the chances of getting it a third time are infinitesimal. Life is great now, little to worry about - certainly not shingles.

It cost me nothing with my insurance but I was willing to pay hundreds. I now see my buddy on a lifetime of pain management because of permanent nerve damage. That is something I want to avoid. My minor case that was caught quickly was painful enough. I second guess a lot of the vaccines but not shingles.
It is dormant in you until stress or another trigger causes it to surface.

I went to bed with what felt like a fever coming on and expected to wake up in the middle of the night unable to sleep on my left arm (where I got the shot) and with the fever sweats. Slept great; no fever. Arm feels like time in middle school when your "best friend" (who was actually a dick) gave you the perfect knuckle slug in the arm during passing period. Manageable but there...

My daughter made varsity rugby girls team this week. She played the whole game this am and has 4 more games today in a round robin tournament. We also just got told by the coach that she'll be traveling a lot this year for more tournaments.

One of them has been around since like 2006, and the other is maybe seven years old. It’s one I would probably trust given what may happen if you don’t do it (that’s been shown by those who don’t) as there’s a 97% chance you won’t get shingles with this vaccine.
I don’t get the flu shot, and haven’t in prob 10+ years. What’s the point? New string of it every year and isn’t as effective, imo. Besides, when I get the flu I’ll only get warm, and maybe the shits. I don’t puke- ever. (Think I was 19 last time I did, and that was from pounding a 40oz right on top of a foot long sammich before entering a strip club)

Pitts are known to get in ur personal space. Many times, he’ll jump up on the couch, with my wife (who’s like 100lbs 4’7”) and make her move over so he can lay next to her lol.
Gia will cuddle a little bit, but doesn’t stay long. It took her a year just to trust us to lay my head on her without her getting up.

I'd rather puke than have the bubble guts. However, the flu kicks my ass. I wind up half delirious, body aches, and lots of times it gets teamed up with a sinus infection. I still don't get the "vaccine" because it doesn't prevent anything. It's like they forgot what a vaccine is supposed to do and just started throwing it on any big pharma shot they want you to get... especially in "recent" times.
