I thought we had a reading thread, but my search-foo is weak. So, new year new thread.

Last year I cranked through a book every week two, roughly evenly divided between hard copy and Audible audiobooks. I like like both fiction and non-fiction and often have one of each on the go at the same time.

    Here's some of what I read/listened to in 2024:

    Washington - Ron Chernow
    Executive Orders - Tom Clancy
    Deep Six - Clive Cussler
Red Sky Mourning - Jack Carr
One Man's Wilderness - Sam Keith
Standing In A River, Waving A Stick - John Gierach
    The Hobbit - JRR Tolkien
The Fellowship of the Ring - JRR Tolkien
The Two Towers - JRR Tolkien
HALO: The Fall of Reach - Eric Nylund
    The Best of Robert Service
    Meditations - Marcus Aurelius
    Rambo - David Morrell
    First Blood - David Morell
    Fire Strike - Clive Cussler
The Cardinal of the Kremlin - Tom Clancy
    Collapse - Jared Diamond
Book of Virtues - Benjamin Franklin
As A Man Thinketh - James Allen
    Discipline - Jocko Willink
Death In The Dark Continent - Peter Hathaway Capstick
    Lucifer's Hammer - Larry Niven
    America Before - Graham Hancock
    Beyond Order - Jordan Peterson

For 2025, my interest in Roman history has been piqued so on the list are:

SPQR; A History of Ancient Rome - Mary Beard
The Storm Before The Storm - Mike Duncan
    The Galic War - Caesar
    Roman Lives - Plutarch
    Rubicon - Tom Holland

After reading Washington, I'd like to follow up with:

    Grant - Ron Chernow
Robert E. Lee - Allan Guelzo
    Kitchen Confidential - Anthony Bourdain

For more easy reading I want to re-read a few of John Gierach's fly fishing stuff:

    Trout Bum
Dumb Luck and the Kindness of Strangers
    Sex, Death and Fly Fishing

    For fun stuff:

Whatever Clive Cussler, Tom Clancy or Jack Carr stuff comes out or I feel like re-reading.

I got enough books for Christmas that were part of series last year that I was able to get a year's worth of reading out of them by rereading the entire series.

    By David Baldacci:
    Will Robie series
    Memory Man (Amos Decker)
    John Puller series

Last few Jack Reacher books by Lee Child (didn't reread that entire series)

In Cold Blood by Truman Capote

    Lone Survivor by Marcus Luttrell

    Drive by James Sallis

Project Hail Mary by Andy Weir

Possibly a couple others I forgot

Dune original trilogy - I got House Atreides last year and am just about to start it. Turns out I had never actually read the second and third books in the original trilogy even though I own them.

Books I got for my birthday and Christmas this year:

    New Amos Decker book
    New John Puller book
Go Like Hell by AJ Baime (inspiration for Ford v Ferrari)
Band of Brothers by Stephen E Ambrose
The Spy Who Loved Me by Ian Fleming (James Bond)

The Reacher books are really good. I haven't read all the series but I've picked away at a few here and there. I have Dune on the shelf, but have never actually read the whole thing. I should do that this year.

Can't hurt. If you don't have the time or attention span to sit down and read a physical book, audiobooks still count. When I was welding, I'd absolutely crank through them. I listen to them on road trips, commutes and while doing chores. It's a fantastic way to get through books.

The Woman likes the sound of Seven Devils Tennessee. That genre is right up her alley. I've added it to our Amazon list for the next time we do a book order.
