Here’s a couple from my install. Very happy with how unnoticeable the black Setrab is with the grill on.

There was a long thread that posted a UOA but was deleted. Basically the oil was fine after 50K or so of moderate towing. Apologies but I don't remember all of the details.

Pretty sure it was my posted analysis :)

Too bad that thread got deleted. I think it could hold benefit to a dedicated thread for UOA on ATF 19+. Maybe even a locked thread that could only be updated by a mod after X details provided, to keep clutter down.

I agree. Possible you posted in that thread but I doubt it was your thread. I do recall the OP requested that his account be deleted in addition to the thread.

I installed at 2700miles with no towing yet. The liquid was like new.
However, I did monitor temps for 500+ miles and I do believe that I would have got above 220F easy as I reached 210F with truck empty and 40F ambient.

Did it. Ordered the kit to prepare the new truck for towing a new travel trailer this summer.

Anyone running a Harrop blower and a Trans cooler? What size trans cooler did you go with?

@Punisher29073 , @stuckinohio Thanks for bringing up the remote filter topic and things to consider. I am leaning towards that direction as I tend to think more filtration is better, but agree probably isn't necessary. Same as for the cooler...probably not necessary in general stock and round town but based upon my mods and usage/towing I'm convinced cooling is better/needed. On the restriction topic of a potential remote filter, I too was concerned about that but help me think through that a bit more.... today there is no cooler circuit so there is no flow whatsoever outside of the tranny. Tomorrow there would be a cooler circuit with additional ATF added to account for that circuit volume and properly level checked. And when the tranny thermostat is open flow goes to the cooler circuit...otherwise flow is no different than today when thermostat is closed. Guess where my head was going in a worst case filter too restrictive situation it wouldn't harm the tranny...but I would lose the additional cooling because ATF isn't flowing thru the cooling circuit...no different than when the thermostat is closed. Does that make sense? Not trying to argue just welcoming the input to weigh potential risks around remote filter as I'm getting closer to putting on the MHX kit from @chasenicholas93 in next couple weeks and kicking around putting on a remote filter.

The harrop intercooler will protrude with the MHX fittings on the cooler. I believe the Setrab cooler will work however, I haven't had someone test fit it yet.

Your thinking is correct, if the filter gets clogged essentially your truck will have the "ATF Warmer" to cool the transmission fluid to a curtain point. I have pondered the idea of creating a bracket that will hold a screw on filter however, I could not find a good place for it without drilling into the truck somewhere. Instead, I would recommend to use Susa part 11-IF0606-D and order a couple service kits to keep in the glove box. I would place it on the outflow hose going to the cooler between the hard lines and the wind deflector. This should make for easy changes and you should only lose minimal fluid since the ATF will settle to the pan due to gravity.

If you decide to go this route you will also need two additional constant tension clips as well as two AN6-06 pushlock 0º fittings.

Pros: You will filter protentional harmful particles from the transmission and will be really easy to service.

Cons: Ads 6 additional points for a potential leak. May restrict flow to the cooler if not serviced appropriately.

You bring up good points and your logic of a clogged filter, in this case (Tundras system)makes sense. Essentially a clogged filter would mimic a closed thermostat. I have considered inline filters on both my Tacoma and tundra but have steered away from them due to sealed transmissions on toyotas and the hassle of trans fluid check method procedures. Despite the recommended trans fluid intervals. I have adopted the idea that a trans fluid drain and refill every 30,000 miles ensures both fluid life(Fluid Degradation) and fluid cleanliness (removal of suspended particulates). Sure it isn't as thorough as a flush, but I assume a drain and refill accounts to close to a 1/3 of overall volume. Meaning over time the fluid is not as saturated and broken down. As an engineer, dirty lubrication is better than starvation and/or no lubrication.

I appreciate the differing viewpoints and debate. Weighing risk vs reward and effort made vs net gain/ performance output.
The thing about these engineered systems is that there are always compromises made due to cost.
If we eliminated cost, is there a benefit that can be quantified and validated as an improvement?

@chasenicholas93 , @stuckinohio thanks great discussion! Remote filter potential pros/cons:

    Pros
    - Increases filtration (in event of any dirt/grim from cooler install, and general wear)
    - Provides insurance if waiting for longer intervals to change ATF
    - Could reduce cost if stretches out ATF life...however I probably don't have the nerve to stretch it out too far...I'm like you Mark I would probably still do @ 30-50k miles regardless so maybe a moot point.

    Cons
    - Restriction from filter may reduce cooling (lower flow)
    - Cost to install
    - If fluid is changed ahead of schedule, may not provide much of any benefit
    - Introduces additional leak points
    - When filter replaced have to do consider fluid check again. A bit of a pain.

Actually a fair amount of potential cons here without being able to know quantifiable improvements. When installing the cooler I may test out flow with / without a filter to see if that eliminates a con if flow seems pretty much the same. Maybe I could pull a oil sample now and later....but apples and oranges since first sample includes original "break-in" miles. More sophisticated than I'm in reality going to be about it lol but fun to nerd out on the topic a bit!

Excellent product, max temps so far have been in the 200°F's. My average temps before would be 215-250°F.

I have been asked multiple times if I am going to do a pre-order for the 2019+ transmission cooler kits so I am going to go ahead and do one. Pre-orders are available with limited stock for each kit and will ship on 27-APR.

@chasenicholas93 Thanks for the great kit, instructions and communication! Pics with the MH514 cooler installed... I painted the cooler Radiator Black prior to install.

@stuckinohio I scrapped the remote filter idea I had with spin on smaller yota filter as I wasn't happy in finding a practical location and since I'll refresh ATF more frequently than manual prescribes it probably wasn't worth the costs or hassle we kicked around here. I did pump thru/replace 12 qts ATF to refresh things just because I had things opened up and if in case there was any debris in the cooler, tubes or hoses. Most likely it wasn't necessary. As Nicholas indicated an inline susa filter would probably be doable or maybe magnefine, and agree could be a bit of pain to service. Was time to quite monkeying around with it and get the truck back in service.

Looking forward to seeing how cool the temp stays when turning the 37's in hot weather and when towing.

Thanks will look into it I haven't. Might flag on high "citrus" from the OJ bottles lol. After/Before pics below are the extent of my WS oil analysis. Still red color, albeit a bit darker than I had imagined, smells right, feels similar. Truck has only has 6k miles on it... no practical reason to change it this early other than peace of mind when adding the cooler and knowing it's fresh after break-in. I did the same with engine oil when I bought the truck. Have some OCD issues...
