It's down the street at the auto parts store. :D Very cheap and so many uses. I think I paid $30 bucks for mine.

On my Kenwood I had to click on "register PIDs" in order for it to register the trans pan. Does yours have something similar?

Edit: actually, I believe this is a Maestro setting so you might have to do the same.

There are Meastro settings in the radio but I would have to look. There is a "Supported Pids" but it just comes up with a gray screen unless it takes a while to pull them?

Received my partial kit today. Thanks, @chasenicholas93! I called one of the local Toyota dealers in Nashville to get prices for the rest of the OEM parts needed (thermostat, hoses, pipe, clamps, bolts). They want full retail price for all of the OEM parts (of course they do).

So I hunted around online a bit and ordered the parts from McGeorge Toyota instead. Got everything needed headed my way for less than $350. I’m not sure if they’ll get here before Christmas, but I’m glad to have the ball rolling.

I ordered this last week. Also, he’s not doing full kits right now.

    I saved $50 at least!

I either use Toyota of Cool Springs or McGeorge Toyota for all my Toyota parts.

Autonation on-line is good also. You have to order on-line and pick up if you go to dealer they charge retail.

He is no longer offering full kits. Look at the “Announcements” on the first page of this thread.

No longer offering complete kits at this time. The complete Toyota parts list that is required for each kit is located on my website.

I ordered the partial kit and received it within a week. Then I ordered the rest of the parts from McGeorge Toyota, and they shipped two days later. Once those parts arrive today, I’ll have everything I need for a total of $740.

If your local dealers are like mine, they’re going to want full retail for the OEM parts ($239 for the thermostat vs $158 at McGeorge). For me, it was worth telling my local stealerships NOPE and ordering from McGeorge and waiting a few days for it to arrive.

Hello, this is my first reply. 2021 Tundra 5.7L SR5 4 x 4, double cab. Installed genuinecoolingsystems Hayden transmission cooler kit several weeks ago as I was getting trans pan temp 215 – 220 ºF with 80 ºF ambient temps after ~ 1 hour driving with no load other than several passengers.
Recently towed ~ 3500 lbs RAV4 with tow dolly ~ 550 miles. Started in 28 ºF ambient temp and within 45 minutes tans pan temp was in the 190’s ºF (99% sure the thermostat was open and cycling atf through the Hayden cooler). Ambient temps rose to mid 60s ºF later in the day, however and trans pan and torq conv. temps didn’t rise above 194ºF (good job @chasenicholas93). Just speculating, but I’m guessing without the cooler installed the atf would have maintained > 250 ºF for several hours (was at 70+ mph for ~ 300 miles).

They do work well. I installed mine and towed our camper a few days later. Temp outside was mid 60's. Camper is 3800 lbs dry, and we had to coolers and gear for 4 people in the bed. Towed about 30 miles and temp was 191.8 average.

I’m surprised that the dealer installed aftermarket parts. My dealer wouldn’t have it.

Having a dealer install it does nothing to preserve your warranty unless you have an extended warranty through your specific dealer. Toyota can still deny a warranty claim on your transmission if they can show that the cooler caused the issue. Highly unlikely, but having the dealer do the work doesn't preserve your warranty with Toyota anymore than having any certified mechanic do it.

It's been beat to death, but your warranty isn't EVER void. They can deny claims but if you put in a trans cooler and your catalytic converters fail (or anything else that couldn't have been caused by the cooler) they will fix/replace under warranty.

To stay on topic, I think I'll be shooting for one of these cooler kits sometime in the next year as well. The transmission is already solid, but having the cooler will give me some peace of mind when I am towing things. Certainly can't hurt anything.

Just an FYI, installed a scangauge 2 on my 2020, other than in some bumper to bumper city driving, trans temps rarely went over 190. Highest I saw in city was about 205, but mostly hovered around 200. Cruising on highway was about 175 in both pan and torque converter.
For the record, the ambient was about 50.

That's about right. If your temps are under 220F there is no need for the cooler. Like it's been said before you don't need a cooler if your not towing often and heavy. You did the right thing in that you checked your trans temps before you went out and bought the cooler kit. Verify if there is a problem before you try to fix it.

Yup. Really don’t want to install a cooler, but will see after weather heats up in summer and when I tow the trailer. thanks!

I have installed my kit. I’m not done yet though—I still need to run the fluid check procedure.

A thought occurred to me last night: adding 1.5qts to your transmission and letting it warm up to 99-111°F before draining the excess should be done BEFORE pulling the pin. If you pull the pin first and don’t drive it around enough to open the thermostat, then the fluid you added won’t make it out of the trans before you drain it back out. Isn’t the point to add fluid so it can circulate through the cooler and lines without having less fluid in the pan than before you added the kit?

Hope this helps someone. I watched a few YouTube videos during my install and didn’t see any mention of when exactly to pull the pin so that your fluid circulates before you drain any excess.
