I am considering upgrading my 2015 SR5 Double Cab, 4.7L TRD. I know that I want the 5.7L, crewmax and bucket seats. But I am not sure what style?

    SR5
    Limited
    Platinum
    TSS
    TRD Pro

For those of you who have these models or styles, I would interested in your opinion or reasons for your purchase. Thanks!

In 2014 I purchased a new SR5 because I simply did not want to spend more than 35K for a vehicle.

My reason is I wanted to change wheels tires and suspension. I prefer cloth seats but want bucket seats and a center console. They are also cheaper to buy so it leaves money on the table to personalize.

When I started my search for my tundra I made a list of must haves. I wanted leather, 20 inch wheels for starters. It came down between the limited and platinum for me. I was lucky enough after a few months to find a 2019 limited in MGM with a few option upgrades like navigation and sunroof that fit my budget. Might be worth your time to go to a dealer and grab a brochure or search online for different model options and go from there. Good luck and enjoy your search.

You have a wide range of trims there. I suggest downloading the sales brochure and looking at the option matrix in the back. Circle the features you want and see what trim has them.

I nerd out on this research. Use two colors...one for Must Have, a second for Nice to Have.

SR5 (with Upgrade Package/ Tow Package, which is standard in Canada) was the most cost effective way to get my must have features (in no particular order):
    Heated front seats
Front bucket seats and centre console
    38 gallon fuel tank
    5.7
    4x4
    IBC

I would have gone with the SX to get less chrome but my wife told me I couldn't get a red truck and I wasn't interested in black or white.

Thank you all for your replies. I picked up the brochure while dodging the herd of sales people during the service of the wife's car. I just wanted to hear some of your reasons for your purchases. Gives me a another perspective.

Really digged the 1794 interior so here I am, otherwise in hindsight I’d probably go SR5/TRD sport for the cosmetic bits

After having my '14 DC SR5 for a little over 5yrs. I knew I wanted a Crewmax, factory Led head/fog lights, and color matched parts ( no chrome). I got the sport because it was the cheapest trim I could get and have the things I wanted or knew I would add. IMO anything above an SR5, I couldn't justify the extra cost. The only thing extra that would be nice but not worth the money is dual climate control that you get in a limited and up. I wanted another silver truck but Toyota didn't offer one that was color matched instead of chrome, except the Platinum, or SR5 with park sensors. So I got MGM. Over all it was between a Sport or OffRoad. Sport won because rear sway bar, and color matched stuff. Sorry for the novel.

What do you want to do with your truck? Daily driver, pavement princess, Offroad, hauling, long travel?

Answer to that will help with the trim level decision since you decided you want a CM, 5.7L. Me personally I’ve had top of the line trucks with all the bells and whistles and this time with my Tundra I went with the base model SR trim so I could upgrade my way. So far I love my truck and personalized it at a fraction of the cost of buying a higher trim level.

The one thing I wish I had is the 38 gallon fuel tank- these truck guzzle gas and why they put a 28 gallon standard fuel tank on I have no idea! My F-150 could go 500+ miles on a tank of gas.

Isn't a silver truck with chrome essentially colour matched?

It can really depend on how you are going to use the truck. For the most part they all seem to be equally capable with minor improvements unless of course you get the Pro suspension. I went with the TRD Offroad because it provides a nicer ride over the base SR5 and Sport. My TRD Sport Tacoma was a stiff riding truck. The Offroad Tacoma was much more comfortable so this heavily influenced my decision. Personally I prefer the simplicity of the SR5 package. I am not a fan of leather on a truck and refuse to spend 40k or more on a vehicle that isn’t a true luxury car. Tundras, 4Runners, and Tacoma’s are great trucks but can never be luxury vehicles. They ride and behave like BOF vehicles which is something I love and appreciate.

My wife refuses to have a vehicle that is not leather interior, and will not have any other color than brown. I refuse to have a vehicle that is not 4x4. That left me with one option - 1794. Just so happens that it had every option I could ever want... but I don't love the chrome. It's not that it looks bad, I just don't prefer it. Why Toyota can't offer a brown interior in the Platinum is beyond me, but I am thrilled with our purchase.

I've seen a couple of 1794's that have been de-chromed and I suppose I could do that over time if I want to. I'm 34, but old fashioned and simple and just prefer to keep it stock... so I suspect the chrome will stay.

I wanted leather and I didn't want black leather.... so 1794 it was.

I continue to appreciate the comments. To provide further information asked. I am a daily driver, but I use my truck for pretty much everything you can use a truck. The one thing that is not always a need for me is off road though I like to have the option or benefit in my truck. On the home stretch for retirement, and we would like to purchase a travel trailer to tow for personal use. It will not be a live in trailer, but something the other half can control and back up.

You have all given me great information to think about as I move towards this decision. I had another old guy offer to buy my current truck after stopping me to check out my clean truck. I may have to take advantage of this to move forward.

    Stay healthy, stay safe!

Kinda but doesn't look as good as the all silver including pro grill someone had. I loved the way it looked.
