Interesting. I feel the car market will be like the lumbar market when it crashes it will crash hard. When that happens who knows, The economy is not going to lock down again my dumbass guess, spring of 2022 and supplies will be back as long as the employers don't have to compete with the government for employees, as long as the handouts continue people won't work....

I think spring of 22 is a very very optimistic guess. Production of nearly everything is still getting cut, especially in the automotive market. Gm just cut production of the 3.0 duramax due to supply chain issues.
The manufacturing side of my company is up to a 30 week wait time on circuit boards and components.
When the supply chain starts coming back it will be a trickle, not a flood. Then it will take a long time to get caught up on orders.
On top of that, noone is willing to work anymore despite alot of the handouts being removed. Fast food is offering $15+ an hour, plus $1k or more if you make it 90 days and several restaurants around here are still closing a couple days per week due to short staffing.
I manage the service side of my company and needed a guy in the Midwest. I called the staffing company I used 6 months ago to find someone for a different job. Passed them the same job requirements and payscale I used the last time. They called and all but laughed in my face at the pay, and refused to post it. I had to post it at $9 an hour more, to even get them to post it.
Now, I've got a temporary worker making the same hourly as an in house employee that's been with us 5 years. We now have to rework our payscale for this bs inflated economy which in return will make our rates go up to cover it.
It'll be the same with everything else.

Supply chain is going to be an issue for longer than i think most people realize, and it’s going to hit in unexpected places. The companies that are booming through this (Google, Amazon, Facebook) are doubling and tripling down on infrastructure projects for their systems and are buying out factory production orders on all kinds of things to support that - from building materials to computer parts to equipment. That impact won’t hit tomorrow…it’ll hit in 6-9 months when a hospital or education facility goes to add another building and the unistrut used to support all their piping and electrical and ductwork isn’t available, so the design will have to change to use something that is more expensive to fabricate and install. Or the chillers for a central utility plant are a four year lead time because your order didn’t get in before the AWS server farm bought dedicated factory production to ensure they could meet their schedules.

As for the OP - not much for me to lose sleep over. I haven’t owned a new vehicle for less than 10 years so far, and don’t intend for this one to be any different. If you’re using new vehicles as an investment, you’re playing the game wrong…
