I have the option of grabbing a platinum at msrp for 62k in the next couple weeks, or having to wait a couple more months still for a limited trd at 58k being built soon for late April…. Both have the pano roof which I wanted….

what am I gaining with the platinum? What am I loosing by not having the trd package?

I think you'll hear that you can make a Platinum a TRD by adding a lift, shocks, etc. However, you can't make a TRD a Platinum, i.e. ventilated seats.

Do a lot of off-roading? You want the PRO.

If not, you want the Platinum.

I think I'll actually offer the opposite perspective. I love the interior of the platinum and the exterior appearance, but I'm going with the Limited with TRD Off-Road Package. The locker and crawl control are both something I really want, and I don't plan on doing a ton of modifications to the truck. From what I've been told, an integrated locker really isn't super easy or cheap to add later either. Ventilated seats are still on the front seats of the Limited, so I look it as mostly losing the rear heated/vented seats and choosing Softex over leather. I do like the leather of the new trucks, but I also don't mind the softex I have on my current Tacoma, and it has help up quite well.

I'm a big fan of the digital dash on the Platinum/1794 as well, but the limited hybrid is getting the digital dash as well.

Not the Pro, just the TRD package. The regular TRD doesn't get a lift.

He doesn't meant the TRD Pro. He's talking about the TRD package (doesn't specify sport or off road) on a limited vs the Platinum.

Gotta be a little more specific and you need to include all the info in the post, not just the title. People get confused and think you are talking the Pro. Also, there are 2 TRD packages. The Sport and the Off Road. Not sure what the sport adds or loses, but if you mean the Off Road I do know that you would be missing out on the rear locker and trail mode stuff.

his question didn’t seem confusing and there’s only one TRD package for the limited..

You can’t make a platinum into a trd off road by the way.

Didn't know that. Thank you for the info. As for the confusion, I agree. It shouldn't be confusing at all.... but the 2 I quoted right before that were thinking he was talking about the Pro.

Correct. Knew that, and so did the OP. That's why he is asking what he misses going with a Platinum vs a Limited TRD Off Road. I understood his question fine. Others were confused, so I was encouraging him to be ultra specific.

By the price of the Platinum I'm guessing it's not a 4x4. If you're going off-road and all that stuff then get the TRD. If you only want to look good on the pavement, then get the 2x Platinum. However, down the line when you want to sell or trade, you may get a faster hit on a sell and/or more value for your money spent with the TRD. Just my $0.02. It's a Tundra...both are great choices.

You can get any trim in 4x4.

Of course you can. However, he said the Platinum was $62K. That prices tells me it is a 4x2. Unless the MSRP is cheaper on 4x4s in his state than in TX...which I doubt.

If it's not loaded with BS and the dealer isn't gouging you could get a Plat in 4x4 at $62k.

Get off of the Toyota website and visit a dealer. I just picked up my Platinum 4x4 this past Saturday. Trust me...You cannot buy a Platinum for $57K as your picture stated. After delivery charges and all of that you're in the 60s quickly.

I'm good. I'm not buying one. Just pointing out that it's possible.

so yea definitely meant a limited trd off road....

also, the platinum has an msrp of 61,934 CM 4x4. Only 249 in add ones (wheel locks and floor liners)

i think im leaning to the limited just for the locker. it doesn't really seem like an upgrade for anything on the platinum

U get heated seats front and rear rain sensitive wipers blue led accent lighting in the interior leather seats automatic leveling headlights power tilt and extending steering wheel digital rear view mirror and almost every option they make except all the trd and off road stuff. One option is air springs and electric adjustable shocks

I don't think the limited has most of that? you sure?

I didn't think the limited even has leather, isn't it softex or no?

I thought it was more like these things as well, I mean it has to have some stuff to justify it being a higher trim.

    rain sensing wipers?

    rear heated seats

    full ambient blue lighting

    digital gauge cluster

power tilt and telescope steering wheel

    rear door sunshades

    upgraded rear turn signals

obviously, what people think is worth it or not is a total different discussion, but it does have a lot more on it including less chrome.

A major upgrade in my opinion would be HUD if the platinum has it.
