Bought a 2019 Limited with JBL system.
Stock system is pretty bad so I started thinking about an upgrade.

Main goal is to keep truck as stock looking as possible with NO modifications on the interior. I have cut up and modified all my vehicles in the past but this truck is great and I want to keep it nice and stock looking.

Started looking and found out what you all already know. Stock JBL system is very hard to upgrade. Talked to James at tech 12 volt and he suggest the RF DSR1 to get system replaced BUT keep the stock Entune.

Ordered the DSR1 and Minidsp 8x12 DL.

Grabbed 2 Sundown SDX 100.4 and a Sundown SDX 1200.1. Small amps with tons of power.
One under the passenger seat, one in the bottom of the console and one under the drivers seat.
Put the dsr1 and minidsp 8x12 under the passenger seat as well. Nice, neat and hidden.

Deadened all the doors and cab with NVX deadener.

Put Stereo Integrity m25 in dash, tm65 in doors and 2 BM12 MK5 behind the back seat in my crew max.

System Sounds amazing and I am perfectly content.

Nick came out with Stereo Integrity TM8 8inch midbass. So, I had to upgrade just because. LOL

This led to the need to add a small mid in the dash and tweets in sail panels as the TM8s will only play up to about 600HZ. New three way.

Stereo Integrity mids and tweets are to big and will not go in unless I modified the dash and sail panels but that is a nonnegotiable issue.

Bought some Infinity Kappa 3/4 Tweets 753T. Fit like a glove in the sail panels

Despite what has been said about the mids, the Infinity Kappa 203s mids fit perfectly in the dash without any modification and come with adapters that are made for the tudra dash.

All was fine until.............. JBL Entune started acting up and stopped working. No volume but it connects fine to my phone but just has no volume.

Just got a crazy deal on a Kenwood DNR1007XR with all the goodies to install it in the truck. It will be here on Tuesday. Again, no permanent modification.

Looking forward to installing the new set up.

Going to take out the DSR1 and will be selling it as I do not need it anymore to use the stock entune HU. (I will make someone a great deal on it. Got it from James at tech 12 volts and he installed the software specifically for the tundra jbl system and the T harness.)

It is a perfect integration unit for the stock JBL system to maintain all stock controls and features but bypassing the crap amp and speakers.

Update. Got a new Head Unit. Kenwood Dnr1007xr. Awesome upgrade. Didn’t change the tune on the minidsp 8x12dl just removed the rf dsr1 and stick jbl entune and it’s a huge difference. Low end is way better. I’m actually running the remote level at -5 instead of +8 on most music. Midbass drivers came alive. Very big improvement. I think the biggest difference is the 5volt preouts and the general internals of the kenwood over the stock. It looks really good as well.

Watch Erin's Audio Corner on YouTube for settings so you get clean signal. He checks for signal on the DMX1057, it's the same unit but without navigation. I think you get about 4.8v at 38 or something.
