Picked up my Tundra today and drove over 200 miles...I see the boost gauge working and at times some movement on the Max gauge not sure how many bars light up at times I see 4 then 5 then back to 4 but after driving that many miles shouldn't that gauge read full bars ?

    Thanks, Chuck

The hybrid battery gauge? I wouldn’t worry about it. In most Toyota hybrids it stays around half and goes up and down depending on how you drive. It’s extremely hard to fill it up unless you go down a really long hill or do a lot of regenerative braking.

Mine spends most of its time between 2-4 bars. Just let it do its thing.

What mode do you have the RH side set too? Are you looking at 2 round gauges or 4 bar gauges (towing gauges). If two round gauges I believe the blue indication around the perimeter of the MAX gauge is an illustration of how much the hybrid system is contributing to propulsion. The white bars below the MAX title in the shape of a AAA is the state of charge of the battery. These will be all over the place depending on use etc so expect to see it move a fair bit. So far I have not seen mine go all the way full but has been as low as 2 bars.

You are being confused. That guidance is generally aimed at lithium batteries. Yours has nickel metal hydride.

    Your not driving a tezla

If you are talking about starter battery, yes those are lead acid and need to be fully charged for maximum life.
