    Just registered,
I’m in northern ut. I’ve owned 3 Tacoma’s over the years all 4x. I’ve been without a toy for a while now and I’m looking at my options.
    I’m interested in a gen 1 tundra.

I need 4x, I’d like to build a trophy style truck so it can look right with the wide stance... here’s where the weirdness begins. I don’t care if it’s tall infact I don’t want it lifted. I want a nice ride and sweet handling.. I’m hoping it’ll be something my wife likes and can tow a 16’ travel trailer occasionally.

    What I don’t know....
How good are the auto trannies?
Am I better off with a standard?
How tough are the mills, how many miles will it last?
What kind of economy could I expect with tall narrow multi terrain rubber?
    What’s the ride like stock?
Any quirks/issues I should be aware of?

I know, I’ll use the search function..... but if anything comes to mind I’d appreciate the input.
I’m hoping for a taco on steroids capable of going off road and destroying snow.

Welcome from Portland. It seems like you are partial to Taco s. Not sure what, "trophy stance", means. If you want a wide stance I m not sure you will get it with a 1st gen Tundra unless you adjust wheel offset. 2nd gen is a bit wider at the gate.
