Been a '03 Sequoia owner for 18 years now, but when it came time to replace the '97 F150 I still wasn't sold on the Tundra. Didn't take much research, though, to make me a convert. A Youtube video by a mechanic was part of the research, followed by a 5-min talk with my go-to mechanic. Everyone concurred - spend a bit extra on a Tundra and you won't regret it. And run - don't walk - away from Ford/GMC fuel management systems.

So ... just bought a '17 SR5 Doublecab 4x4 w/ 55K. Awesome truck. First mods - remove pinstripe and some badging, add Husky mats and a K&N filter, fabricated a phone holder.

But good grief guys ... I've reviewed this site and am amazed at the talent. Obviously you guys are gonna cost me a lot of money. (And my wife thought the spending was done when I bought the truck - ha.)

Welcome from Nor Kal... Enjoy your truck... I got a "high" mileage 5.7 almost a 1/4 million miles with basic maintenance at the local driveway, curbside and back yard shop... invest in 10mm stock.. lol.

    Thanks gents!

Just finished up putting the final coat of lacquer on a black walnut shift knob. We'll see how it turns out. I know most owners here prefer the industrial look, and while I hate plastic/fake wood, I'm a fan of wood. Besides, I like excuses to make sawdust. Harvested the black walnut from the property, traced a profile of a TRD Pro knob, and went to work with the bandsaw & sanders. If it looks good I'll post pics. If it sucks I'll keep quite about it.

    welcome aboard from NW Oregon!

Has the truck already got the ‘rear seat fold down’ mod?
    It’s a free one!
Another worthwhile mod is adding a grab handle for the driver side.

Not yet - let me look that one up! Still undecided on the grab handle ... I'm pretty tall and just step in. But the wife looks so damn sexy driving the truck that I might put one in for her.

Welcome from the wet side of WA.
The DC rear seat fold down is a great cheap mod, and gives you a little bit of space to store some flat/thin things (I kept tow strap, spare blanket, and stuff like that back there.
