I currently own a super nice 2011 Rock Warrior with 80k miles. Nothing wrong with the truck. A little Crunching noise from the front end during low speed take offs....and also the hair trigger accelerator that i need to feather on take off. And i noticed a slight weeping of the passenger side cam tower. Probably been like that for a long time. I stumbled on this issue after i bought it (after owning 4 others). It doesn’t worry me.

I have been watching the KBB value of this truck go up exponentially since early summer. And there is a leftover brand new 2019 Platinum in my area, MSRP of $53,500. They are advertising it for $50,230. Only a $3200 discount...and its almost 2 years old. I made them an offer Of $46,000 over Autotrader Last night and they took it. A salesman called and we talked for awhile. They will give me me what I paid for the Rock Warrior last year (minus the tax I paid).

Do I need a new Tundra? Probably not. We plan on taking our new camper out west, to the east coast and to Florida in the future. The 2011 is up to the task as far as I know...and it is paid for lol. BUT the Platinum has all the safety belts and whistles plus cooled/htd. Memory seats, Power folding mirrors and at 68 I appreciate all that stuff, especially the safety nannies. BUT I just love the badass look of my Rock Warrior Dbl. Cab. Ive had a few compliments on it. 3 of My neighbors own ‘18 or ‘19 Tundra Crew Cabs. This Platinum would just blend in with theirs, different only in color, Silver Sky vs. Barcelona Red and 2 that are Magnetic grey.
Buying a new camper has pleased my wife very much and she is not averse to me buying a new(er) truck so half the battle is won should I decide to pull the trigger. Is $46k an acceptable price for a never titled ‘19 Platinum? Only thing missing is a bed liner. All the ‘19 Platinums in a 200 mile radius are pre-owned and all are priced over $46k.

I am no expert at the market, but around the DC area most used Platinums are more than $46k. I even saw a few listings for used Limited models at $50k. From a "want" perspective, I would jump on that quick if it is what you are looking for. The 38 gallon tank will come in handy with the new camper.

From a "need/financial discipline" perspective, I would save yourself $$$ and run your current truck into the ground and invest your car payment. Every single vehicle at some point is worth the price of scrap metal. You decide what price you want to depreciate into nothing...

I think the price is good at current market conditions. It is likely worth the investment but as jeman022004 said financially it needs to be a personal decision as to whether it is worth it to you. If it was me, I would likely do it if it is a truck you will appreciate. My current plan is to get a 2021 platinum once they are out so I can enjoy the 5.7 for many more years. My 08 is still going strong but some of the new tech and comfort features of the platinum make it very worthwhile for me. Good luck on your decision and let us know what you decide.
