    Friends

    I am back again.

Going to replace front bearing (Left side) with ECGS bushing, however, also thinking about replacing the axle. Any recommendations for a good off brand close in quality to OEM. Right axle was replaced by Toyota few months back

Should I stay with OEM for the left side as well?

How detrimental is to have an off brand

    Thank you in advance.

I'd stick OEM. Both sides are the same - there is no right or left.

Another vote for OEM. Get new boots and repack with grease if you would like to dig in to them as long as everything else is good.

The ECGS bushing is a good way to go; it takes more work to get the front axle out than it does to swap the bushing. Super simple.

If you can't get or rebuild OEM, Napa has decent axle reputation.

Man, I heard so many bad stories about repacking those axles, that simply makes me want to break into the piggy and purchase new axles, my debate is whether go with OEM or aftermarket

You can most likely rebuild what you have. Check out carcare nut channel on YT. He's got a no nonsense video library at your fingertips. Just buy grease, boots, and clamps. Maybe a tool to clamp if you don't have one. The screw type clamp tool is pricey but worth every penny. Let me know if you need help finding one.

Maybe not the ideal video, but it does detail several steps. Just pull out the whole axle, rebuild, and engage the 4x4 when you go to put it back into the differential, this will keep the female spline from spinning around. Also line up the clip with the opening down so gravity will not make it droop excessively as you insert the male axle spline into the female diff spline. Many folks find themselves fighting it because that clip droops quite a bit with the opening facing up.

@2mchfun Been there done that for sure on my old civic spent an hour trying to beat that damm cv axle back in and magically it went right in with a tap when clip was in the correct position.
