I have turned off the lane departure and cup of coffee warning. I do use and actually enjoy the adaptive cruise control. Occasionally when a car suddenly brakes hard in front of me I'll get a beep and a orange warning on the dash saying BRAKE! I don't mind that so much as it seemed harmless and non intrusive. However today, driving at a slow speed in a busy park with people walking around and cars everywhere, I get the beep and orange backlighted message. No big deal having that in itself, what makes this time different is that the truck braked.........hard. Hard enough to stop the truck instantly and give my passenger and I whiplash....not to mention the people standing on the side of the road looking at me like I'm high, or the car behind me that almost hit me. This cannot be normal can it? There was no persons or obstacles anywhere in front of the truck at the time, and there was only steering input from me, no brake or acceleration input .should I write this off as a one off freakout or should I make an appt to have it checked out by the dealer? I just don't want this happening at 70 mph or something . 4675 miles on it. Thanks in advance for any ideas or suggestions .

I took it in today to have the tires rotated and oil changed. I told them what happened asnd asked them to check it. They couldn't replicate the problem, but it's on paper for next time I guess.

Sounds like it could be a problem with your emergency brake. Might be a damaged brake line, electrical, or even fluid. I would bring it back and get them to check the brake lines (regular and emergency) and possibly bleed the lines.

    Best answer I’ve got.

Driving through town this week my red BRAKE warning came on and beeped loudly. No one was around my truck. Truck has 2500 miles and this is the only times it has happened. Weird
