18's or 20's for the stock TRD Pro?

  1. 20's dude, this is the best look and doesn't cause any ride problems

    Hey all,

Here is what I'm considering and some input would be greatly appreciated. I have a fully stock "no lift" 2016 Tundra TRD PRO, looking to go 305/65/18 or 305/65/20 BFG KO2's, I've confirmed both will fit with just a little removal of the mudflap in the front wheel well. I love the size of the 35's but there just a little to aggressive for me.

The rims are Method "The standard" in 18's or 20's, (rim size obviouse).

My question is what would be the recommended set up? I'd like a good ride with a good look but also functional, I don't plan to do any massive off roading but will take in on some dirt roads.

Which do you think would give it the best look?
Pro's and cons for the 18's? Ride and function.
Pro's and cons for the 20's? Ride and function.

I am also new here so allow me to introduce myself, my name is Mike and I live in Anaheim Ca.

Looking forward to hear from you guys!

    Cheers!

    ~Mike

It’s personal preference. I like the look of more tire and a more comfortable ride. So 18’s for me

Thanks guys, I’ve been leaning towards the 18’s. That seems like the majority vote.

So that’s what I’m going to do!

Thanks again! This forum is awesome!!

18”s Or even better... 17”s I would never go 20s on a pro. It just reminds me of when I see a jeep or a hummer with 20s or 22s.

I went with 18's for a few reasons.

I like the look of 18's better.

In my area there are a lot of potholes, so the extra rubber helps cushion those.

I feel the sidewalls are pretty stiff on my KO2's (on 18" wheel) so there isn't much tire roll. I'm sure you will have less with the 20" wheel, but less cushion, it's a give-and-take.

Yep, will do. 18’s it is! I’ll get the pics up when completed. Hopefully later this week.

Just got the Tundra done yesterday. Super happy. Thanks for all your help!

Here is what I got, 305/65/18 BFG KO2’s and Method “The Standard” rims 18/9.

Front fender liner needed to be removed does anyone have a work around for this? 54B477E8-092B-46AE-A686-823423854670.jpgBA2BA9E4-5CB2-44AB-A1D0-C99BF9DA494E.jpg

Looks awesome Mike! Regarding the Front Liner, you can always shave the bottom with a dremmel tool and also use a heat gun to push the plastic inwards. Here is a great video on using the heat gun for pushing the liner forward:

Here is the video I found to maybe give you an idea. It’s not completely detailed like I would want it to be, but hopefully gives you the gist of it.
