Hey guys, here’s my issue, and please link me to any related strings…:

I have a 17 Platinum, black. It has regular mirrors with everything, but I want tow mirrors like that. I have power folding, heated, BSM mirrors. I’ve found two mirrors with all but folding, I’ve found towing mirrors with all but BSM, but I want it all.

I really hate to forego BSM as I live next to a very busy park and kids pop up out of nowhere.

Has anyone installed non-BSM mirrors that had the option in the previous years? Even tho a light won’t appear on the mirror, will the noise still come up? I imagine if I only change the mirrors, the sensor is still active, and the noise isn’t coming from the mirrors but somewhere in the cab, so maybe I can get non-BSM and just go off the audible warning? But I wonder if the disconnect at the mirrors (assuming BSM has its own dedicated connection) means the noise will be cut as well.

Sorry for the rambling, but the help is greatly appreciated. Big thumbs up to easily the best forum for any vehicle or product I’ve ever been to. I don’t think I’ve seen this much loyalty online anywhere except maybe with certain gun manufacturers. Luv it

also plz lemme know if this should be in another forum, this is one of my earliest entries on the site

EDIT: would like turn signals as well, and BSM not as important as I previously thought since there’ll still be the indicator noise that I’ll be able to hear

I could be wrong, but pretty sure the BSM in the mirrors has nothing to do with the actual sensor other than a visual reference, like for changing lanes.

Awesome, thanks, that is helpful. I’ve found some nice mirrors, chrome so I’ll have to paint, but really don’t wanna lose the BSM and the noise indicator is more than enough. Don’t wanna pay for expensive mirrors and then paint, but it may be the way to go. Appreciate the help.

Try 1A Auto. They have a set of Trail Ridge GM style that has all of the above. If you can live without power fold there is another set of Trail Ridge that are good too that look like the OEM towing mirrors. I have the latter on mine and they are great.

And TTU19 is correct. The only thing BSM in the mirror is the led indicator. The BSM function is all handled by an ECU and sensors in the rear flanks of the truck.

Thanks, I’ll head over and take a look. Also should edit my first post to include that a turn signal would be nice.

I am almost certain the ECU does a BSM systems check. If the system doesn't detect the LED indicators it will most likely trigger a BSM fault.

A possible alternative approach is to apply the DIY mod someone posted here on how to relocate the indicators.

Boost Auto mirrors have everything you’re looking for, including either black or paintable caps.

The buzzer is in the drivers side c-pillar for RCTA. The sensors are in the rear bumpers. The main ECU uses the input. If the lights aren’t there to complete the circuit it will complain at you. There are people that have wired an LED into the sail panel that serves the purpose. I added the factory BSM/RCTA to my truck (it’s not an option from the factory in the Pro), and used the Boost Auto mirrors.

Buy the power folding ones and add some inexpensive LEDs in the sail panel for the BSM indicator lights.

Then you’ll have all the options.

That’s good to hear. Would hate to pony up that much and have issues. For now tho I’ll prob stick with the stock ones, too much on the wish list that a grand could get. That Hellwig sway bar may be the way to go!
