Your truck is looking great Jake. How did you secure the unistrut to the side of your bed? Did you have to tap the holes you drilled, or is there something else you used on the backside? I’ve been thinking of doing this myself but not really sure how to go about it.

Noob question, but what’s the benefit of the carrier bearing spacers? You and I are on a similar lift so I’m just curious if this is something I should do, or what the point is.

There are threaded holes already there - the spray-in bedliner just covers them up. I used a small screwdriver to locate and poke holes and then a utility knife to cut out the bedliner. Not sure if all are done this way, but there was tape or something over the holes so I didn’t have to worry about them needing to be chased with a tap or anything.

I had a very mild shudder when accelerating from a stop after I lifted the rear. The spacers help put the drive shaft back in a straight alignment, and theoretically helps with that, if present. I don’t know if I had it or not, truthfully, but in my mind it’s gone after installing the spacers, lol.

You would think that manufacturing would be more precise when our trucks are being built. With that said, sounds like your build is coming along just fine though. Lessons learned and shared are key with our community.

Hey Eric, if you want to experiment for the price of free, I have a set of carrier bearing spacers (0-2" of rear lift) you're more than welcome to!

ABS guards just showed up. Should be some cheap insurance against blowing up an ABS sensor. I know these aren’t as fancy as the Jomax ones, but I’m a cheap ass, so…

At least these things don’t feel cheap. I’m happy with the amount of protection I’ll get from them:

Did you put blue Loctite on them? I haven't installed the used SDHQ ones I bought a couple weeks ago, but I have read somewhere on this site that they can rotate when hit with a rock/object.

I’ve heard of that too, but I don’t know if loctite will do anything more than having them torqued down. And I’d be afraid of snapping the bolts if I tried to remove them with the loctite in place. I think I’ll just make it part of my regular maintenance to check their position. Plus I’d rather have them rotate from a rock hit than a direct hit to the sensor.

Rigged up some drop mounts for my bed rails to hold a shovel or whatever I need. Now I need to figure out what else I can mount back there.

Makes me wonder if the Rago fab accu mounts would work with your unistrut mounts.

Just get a bottle jack and traction boards as a footing. Best advantage of a bottle jack over all other jacks is you can drive off them once you’re up

I do need to get a set of traction boards. They’ll be handy for some of the terrain around here. I’ve had this jack on my list for a while and might be easier to transport than a full size jack

Same. I keep a pad and a bottle jack. I've seen way too many horrible injuries or damage to vehicles from farm jacks. Super useful but equally dangerous.
