32C4E89D-9BF9-408D-B1CF-70B4FC5CFC6A.jpg Anyone know how to get rid of this space on the front sway bar grommets. I just installed it and I can’t get rid of it, is it normal? I installed one on my last tundra and it closed up after driving it but this one won’t close up…torqued the bolts to 51 ftlbs.

Did you just swap in the TRD bar? It’s a bigger OD bar than the stock black one, so you need to use the TRD bushing.

Same thing happened to me when I put mine on. Check the other side. You are missing a plastic spacer that goes in between the from and the bushing. It looked like it had been missing from the factory. Here is what I order. Not sure why it's sideways. 20220219_192252.jpg

The spacer is there It’s hard to see in the picture. It’s just strange that on my previous 2014 Tundra the original bushings actually closed all the way around the trd sway bar. Where did you order the trd bushings?

I didn’t know there were TRD specific bushings. I used normal ones when I put on my TRD front sway bar lol

Swapped my originals. I don’t think the sway bar comes with new bushings.

No TRD/new bushings supplied or required with the sway bar, uses original bushings.

I have a sport. So it’s always had the TRD bar, so I may be wrong on the bushing. But here’s the part # for reference. No gap either.

Bigger. Heavier. More solid than the stock black one. Translates to less body roll, or “sway”.

Thanks for all the help everyone, my bushings must be wearing out for some reason. May put new ones on just to see if it helps. Like I said I had the same issue with my previous Tundra but it resolved itself just by driving it…

Swapped my stock bar for a TRD a couple weeks ago, same bushings used and no gap-torqued to 51ft-lbs. I added the rear a few months ago as well. The rear made more of a difference but the front bar was still a significant improvement. I’m pretty sure I read somewhere on this forum that both bars have the same OD, with the TRD being made with heavier stock.

So the little square plastic spacer is in there?

If anything make sure the open end of the grommet is towards the front and you don’t need special sized grommets for the trd sway bar.

You’re not supposed to grease the sway bar bushings. The bushing is supposed to deform, grip and prevent the sway bar from moving or rotating. Greasing the bushings, especially the oem rubber ones completely defeats the purpose of the deform bushing.

This is for the rear, but per the instructions you are to lube the bushings.

Just using logic, the grease on the bushing shouldn’t matter. You want the sway bar to pivot as the suspension cycles together, the sway bar itself will twist in a corner for example limiting the independent cycling
