    Hi Everyone,

I recently bought a 2019 TRD Sport CM and now was thinking I should have just bought a TRD Pro. My Sport has 230 miles on it now. I've added accessories to it like remote start, black outs, TRD exhaust, Predator steps and a bed step. At the time the dealers around me only had a white TRD Pro. I found a black one in stock at another dealer. I'm not planning on doing off road but you never know. I mainly tow an enclosed trailer and a boat. Do you think it's worth it to trade my Sport for a Pro?

Its possible, some dealers will do a buy back within a certain time window. Check with your dealer. Also visit the dealer that has the Pro that you want and have them work the numbers and see if it is a viable option. Worse case scenario, you still have your Sport but if you want the Pro be prepared to take a hit.

It's kinda like when I bought my last few Toyota's; I got a 2008 FJ Cruiser Trail Teams Edition. Great vehicle, and it had all the bells and whistles. Nice. But in 2015 my wife got a 2015 4Runner SR5, nothing special except for the 3rd row seating (she like to haul the grand kids around). I had buyer's remorse because it wasn't a TRD Pro. But it earned it's reputation when I had the wife follow me on a few trails out here in it (I was driving the FJ Cruiser, she followed). That vehicle is still a 4Runner and it performed flawlessly. Using that rationale, I bought my 2018 Tundra TRD Sport. It is still a Tundra (no matter what plastic or blackouts or rims or whatever...) it is still a Tundra. Enjoy it. Push the limits of it and it will reply with the same reliability and function that the TRD Pro will give you. It is a Tundra. And one last thing; all of these newer trucks (Silverado's and Raptors and MOPAR's in any form) are just junk with all of the bells and whistles of the latest trends. Don't be confused. The Tundra will be reliable and bullet proof for the next 20+ years (no matter what packages and stickers they put on them).

    I guess.......nothing. It's still a Tundra!

    Thanks everyone!

I would say if you are not going to off-road, the Sport will be better suit for your needs for towing and hauling. I have the same thing rolling in my head with my Platinum, but then I realize that I will probably never off-road to where a Pro would be worth it. I did upgrade my suspension to the Sport, so I have a TRD Sport Platinum now. :p

Aftermarket suspension will probably be better than what comes in the Pro. I like Fox Shocks.

I have guys pulling me over asking why my Pro doesn’t have the indent, then they figure out it is a Sport they are upset because mine has much more than theirs and I didn’t pay Pro price!! :) I don’t like sunroofs and if I want leather someday I can add it.

I don't think the hit you will have to take between trade in and new vehicle will be worth the difference.

your answer is "I mainly tow a boat and trailer, and not doing offroad" which means NO, dont get a Pro. The Pro suspension is not meant to tow and it will squat way worse than the other suspensions. Unless you just want the look, but man, I tow a 5k lbs boat, and it squats worse than my old Nissan Pathfinder did, but I offroad a LOT, so that's why I got the pro.

    Curse you Perry the Platypus!
Ultimately, I think you are better off sticking with what you got. You can always add wheels or powder coat yours black, change the shocks to PRO shocks, and swap skid plates and you have a PRO. Just my 0.2 cents.

IMG_1342.jpg I have my '18 CM Limited TRD Off Road and drool at some of the mods I see on here as well as the new Pro at my local dealer. The '19 Pro's have Fox shocks now, but I pulled a 30' Camper trailer out of my deer lease due to the impending opening of the spillway and the truck hardly went down 2". It basically was level and had no problems moving it to destination. I have a 22' Xpress Bay that it pulls without a thought of it being back there. I was comparing my Tundra to my Z71, since I drove Chevy's since '99. Once I got over the initial change to the Tundra, I don't even look back anymore.

Unless your dealer is going to buy back your sport for what you paid I would say just keep the truck you have. They are going to rake you over the coals to get a pro. As much as I love my pro I wouldn't be willing to take a loss on a new truck to get it. The TRD sport has a lot of the same features, and is probably better for towing anyway since you get the TRD sway bars. I say keep the money you would lose on a trade and put it into the truck you have.

Keep the truck and add Pro suspension and Pro wheels. I would put Kings or ADS on your sport, you will have better suspension then my Pro. Either way you will have a badass truck that will last the test of time. Let us know what you do.

Um yeah, I’m not that into it. Not out of the question, I am a paint and body guy. But no, I’m actually looking to dump the pro grille.

IF I were you, I would just lift it 3/1.5 with some Bilsteins 6112/5100 and add taller tires. The Fox shocks are better for higher speed off-road impact absorption. Unless you are worried about that, the Bilsteins are better on the highway and fine off-road.

Don’t trade. You will take at least a 10% hit off what you paid, plus loss of sales tax and other fees on first purchase. Pro’s have a strong resale, but not worth loosing 15K. Mod your truck and make it yours.
