TRD Pro Shift knob, delivery drama smh.

I'm pretty frustrated about this whole situation, so why not jump on the forum to rant lol. I'll start from the beginning. I'm new to this tundra life(loving it btw), so I didn't know anything about where to get OEM parts, other than going on the Toyota parts website, and looking at the accessories section,(how I purchased my black chrome muffler tip). I shortly found out about TheYotaGarage via google search and saw the TRD Pro shifter. I came here to the forum and discovered that Yota Garage prices tend to be marked up, significantly. After doing some searching in the forum, I found out you can get the part number and search that to find a toyota parts dealership that has the part.

I call the dealership, (Not gonna give details of which one and the 2 guys I spoke to, until I see how this all shakes out). They say they don't have the part, but he can order from the national stock(whatever the term is) and have it shipped to me. Takes payment right there over the phone. He says I'll get an email with shipping info, once they get the part and send to me. After a few hours I felt bothered by not having some kind of confirmation email(or any proof the order exist lol), other than BOA notifying me my card was charged $130. I called back and got an order #. This was on 10-4. I left for vacation on 10-8. Got back last night, no package and never received and email confirmation or anything at all.

I call this morning at about 630am. Guy says they transposed the last two numbers in my street #, go to that address and "see if they have it"(side note, I didn't mention the street address in this call, so they clearly have the correct address and the wrong one on their end, so at least they know its their fault) Okay, cool. I drive 900ft up the block, this address does not exist. I call them back, he tells me to call USPS. You guys messed up, but it's on me? He says he will work on it from his end as well. I call USPS, I need a tracking number(which I never received). I call Toyota back, he emails me the tracking number, (first email I have received from Toyota in regard to this order). I look up the tracking number to see it was delivered to some other zip code and signed for by someone, (doesn't list exact address). The person signed for it wherever it is, so clearly they have no intention on "returning to sender" .

So, yeah. That's where I am at the moment. I guess I intend on putting in a claim with USPS, but I doubt that will do much. Thoughts on what I should do from here or how Toyota could/should handle this?

Sorry for any typo errors, etc. Typed this while I should be working, but I gotta get this out, or I wont be able to function today.

 

Unsolicited advice - 1. dispute the transaction with your cc company. 2. Order new knob from Sparks Parts.

Yeah, I know this one isn't on USPS. Sorry, if the OP made it come across as such. My wife said the same this AM, dispute the transaction. It just sucks, something as simple as typing in an address, is causing all this. I just wanted a shifter lmao

 

Update. I called him back to let him know that the package had been signed for, so it's definitely not sitting at USPS, as he suggested it might be. He says he'll have to reorder from national supply and resend it to me (sound familiar?). I'll give it until this time next week before I decide to dispute the charge with BOA.

 

You should send a gift to the address that signed for the original package. It may not actually exists, but USPS would likely deliver another addressed package to the same place.

You placed the order over the phone with a dealership? I used to believe that was best and preferred talking to someone until I’ve found human error to be 10x more common than computer error. Last time I placed an order over the phone, the dealership screwed up the order pretty bad because they transposed a few part #’s.

Moving forward, if you have the P/N of any OEM part that you want to order…just place the order via parts.toyota.com. They just about always run free shipping and it lets you quickly see prices across multiple dealerships to get the best price. I live in NV but I always order from Toyota dealers in SoCal because they seem to always have the best prices.

Also…as a backup to parts.toyota.com, I have used Sparks Parts as well. Their prices are fair but I think they gouge on the shipping rates. That’s my only beef with them. Their Customer Service is pretty solid though. I use them whenever I can’t get the OE part via parts.toyota.com. I did that when I ordered my heritage grill since there was such a backlog on them there was a stop sale for awhile.

It’s funny about parts.toyota.com. I don’t live in Redlands, CA but I’ve gotten to know the parts staff at Redlands Toyota fairly well because I seem to place my internet orders with their dealership 9/10 times.

Being the topic had 'DRAMA' in it, I should have known..

 

Just because it was signed for doesn’t mean they are doing anything wrong. I order so much crap that my wife would sign for a package and not even look at the name on the box. Maybe they did notice the error but haven’t had time to take it back to usps.

Can the dealer tell you what address they put on the first box? See if it’s not a bad neighborhood and drive over there if it isn’t too far.

 

Yeah he transposed the last 2 numbers in my address. So I drive up my block looking for that house and that street number doesn’t exists haha. For instance, mine is 1239. He sent it to 1293. Well there is no 1293 lol. There’s a 1295 and 1291. I checked the USPS tracking number and it went to some other zip code(same city) doesn’t say the specific address. So I have no idea where it ended up. It was delivered last Saturday.

 

Does that address match any streets in that zip code? Seems both the dealership and usps screwed up. Whoever got it probably tossed it unless they have a tundra.

 

Based on my Apple Maps, nope. Very bizarre.
