    Hey Folks,

I have a 2021 Limited Tundra that I swapped the grille on. I installed an OEM TRD Pro grille with an OEM garnish, and I'm getting a constant "Pre-Collision Sensor Malfunction - Call Your Dealer" message that won't go away. I've tried shimming the sensor to change the angle and that didn't help. I'm in Montana, and all the local dealerships have said that there's nothing they can do unless I put the limited grille back on.

Has anyone else experienced this problem when changing grilles? Any Advice?

Do you still have the limited grille? I’d put that back on, and if the issue persists let the dealership figure it out. I had no issues replacing my SR5 grille on my 2018.

Are you 100% sure you’ve got a good connection where the sensor plugs in to the harness from the front of the truck? Do you have an aftermarket bull bar or anything blocking the sensor? Didn’t bump or break anything in the sensor when swapping things out?
A LOT of people have done the exact same swap without issues.

Yep, I've checked the sensor plugs, and didn't cause any damage to my knowledge. No bull bar or aftermarket parts. I know a ton of people who've swapped grilles, and have done it on friends trucks without issue many times.

Odd - if you’ve got the original grill still, I’d probably try swapping them to see if the issue persists and if it does, take it to the dealer.

The Pro is 2 inch higher at the front, so probably need to lift the front to have the designed calibrated height.

Tilting it might change the angle, but possibly limiting the projection.

Could probably delete it if don’t plan to use it, although not sure if the light will stay on.

Did you buy the garnish from a actual dealer or ebay? I would pop the garnish off and see if the errors go away.

Sure enough, I put the Limited grille back on and it works. I'll be building it out pretty aggressively in the next couple weeks, so I'll reinstall the Pro grille afterwards and see if increasing the ride height changes anything.

Yeah, it's the OEM Garnish. I'll try removing it and see what happens.

If you didn’t disconnect the battery before doing the swap try to disconnect for a few hours and reconnect. Give it a day or so of driving around and see if the error goes away.

Some of the tacoma guys had problems with the oem garnish. I tried a bunch of aftermarket ones when I did my grille swap. They all popped errors, I still didnt want to pay for a OEM one so I tried a piece of kydex and it has been fault free for the last year and 10k.

@2020Platinum also has some posts on moving his sensor into the surround below the actual grill and having good results

I second this....I happened to install my pro grille after raising the front end so I’m sure it has to do with positioning. Good luck OP!

Hey guys, I experimented with the TSS a few months back and it worked out perfectly, since then several of my viewers have done this mod as well and not a single issue...works with any grille out there and doesn’t cost anything to do...hope it helps!

Awesome thanks so much. I just installed a full winch bumper brush guard and after a couple of days starting getting the clean sensor message.

This should take care of my issue.

I have a base sr5 with the sensor in the Toyota emblem of the grill.
What sensor did you use? Is it for the pro grill?

Thanks for your video is very helpful.
I don't know what to do the clearance I have between the bottom of the grill ad the top of my winch is not sufficient i believe.
Hopefully the manufacturer of the brush guard winch bumper will have a option. I don't even have the winch I installed yet because I'm afraid I'm going to have to return the brush guard..

    Don't know what to do..

Yeah that looks like it’s going to be extremely tight… You may not be able to do what I did in the video by the looks of that picture, let us know how you make out!
