TRD Performance Brake Pads

    Something odd about the "so called" Performance Pad? Looked at several sites for the standard OEM pad for our trucks or at least the 3rd Gen. and found prices ranging below. Question is if the TRD Performance Pad is supposed to be some upgrade then why is it literally slightly cheaper. What am I missing?

    Quality control.

    There's various grade of quality control that indicating pricing differences, a factory may make the same brake pads but with 3 levels of quality control, OEM usually demand the best, so they are the most expensive, then you get name brand, may be its for their own brand or another known name brand, second most expensive, then you get generic, which is the ones that you may have to do some shaving in order to fit in the calipers right, those tend to be the cheaper ones.

    Also, for "performance" oriented brake pads tend to be more metallic oriented in construction, the raw material itself is cheaper, hence the pads are cheaper, the downside is usually more dusts, OEM ones tend to be ceramic based that have lot less brake dust, but ceramic organic material costs more.

    I have the TRD pads and love them. As @Downytide said. Lots of brake dust but I noticed a boost in stopping power.

    I just purchased front oem rotors and trd brake pads. I Wash my truck regularly so don't care about dust. Stopping power is what im after. Hopefully i worm wsrp the rotors during the 10 rounds of 0-60-5 bedding process.

    To physically distort a metal rotor requires A LOT of variance of temperature, you literately have to hit it up to 200c on surface then douse one part with ice cold water to get it distort, or past its operating temperature, not saying its impossible, but on most road vehicles its very rare.

    That wiggle sensation is usually uneven deposit on the brake pads on the rotors, so when you install the new rotors, make sure you clean the hub area properly, you would be surprise by how much your rotor would be off with just tiny bit of material, and follow bed in procedure carefully, do slow braking first, 2-3 times, then higher speed, allow it to cool while driving, then do full braking where you are almost locking up, drive off and let it cool, never stand on the pedal because then you will have hot transfer on one spot.
